RSD: One take radio sessions on vinyl (8 tracks)
« on: February 06, 2025, 07:50:06 PM »
Just received an email that the RSD release this year will be the One take radio sessions on vinyl. Nice to have hah? 8)

It seems to be the 8 track version, which is nice imo! Not a renamed 6 track Trawlerman’s Song EP.

I thought about that too  :)

The trawlerman's song
Back to Tupelo
Song for Sonny Liston
Rüdiger
Boom, like that
Everybody pays
Donegan's gone
Stand up guy
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

Hmm.

I have the CD. I think I maybe listened to it once in the last 20 years?

That said, I had really good fun queuing up with other nerds on RSD last year.

Will probably end up picking up a discounted copy down the line.

Like Dusty I listened to the CD very little and to make matters worse I personally don't own a record player!

I appreciate a new release but if they think recycling this is of interest then they need a "reset", as seems to be the buzz word atm.

Well, I am always thrilled with a new release, even if it is actually an old one. I don't think it is the format anymore, but rather the deeper meaning behind such re-issues. They mean that MK is still relevant and considered a solid investment for a record company to put something out for the fans, because this is a release for the fans really, and the fans are plenty enough to sustain such a release and also very keen to support many such releases through the years. Quite a few RSD releases are still available after a long time, so maybe they are already aware about the dynamic of the thing and do it to keep things alive, by pleasing the fans. So, although I would love something unreleased or hard to find  at better quality, I am also OK with this. I wonder if there is a nice way to put forward to the company, for consideration, what  we would consider worthy to be released. On the other hand, I guess projects that are released for the first time or are massive like the live albums remasters, are taking too much time and resources to be viable for a limited RSD release, so I guess we have to be content with such releases.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

By the way, Shangri-La studio has apparently survived the Palisades fire.

Well, it's a non existing item on LP, but also are most of MK film scores of the 2000's, except Metro land which was issued also on RSD.

This new one is totally meaningless for me, the first one I'm gonna let it pass.

So, the record arrived yesterday and here are some photos, although I already see it on discogs for sale, which is peculiar, because it is supposed to be sold only through physical stores on the RSD.
Looks nice.Pressed in GZ

Keys Jim Cox and Matt Rollins... never was aware they played together here and also wasn't aware that Guy was obviously not involved. I have the CDs but obviously never bothered to read the credits...

I didn't bother setting out at 3.30am like last year for this, after all I like most of you have this on CD. OK you are gaining two 'new' tracks - Rudiger and Everybody Pays, and at £39.95p you will do just that!!

I will perhaps pick up a copy at leisure...
