Dire Straits first album vinyl reissue

It will be released on December 15 by Warner. The main news is it was remastered from the original analog master tapes.

Hope all analog recorded DS albums (Communique, Making Movies and Love Over Gold) will be remastered from originla tapes, because all previous  remasters do not sound good.

First digital remasters done in the end of '80s were not too good and it was and used for both CD and vinyl(!) re-releases.  Next SBM re-remastering in 1996 (based on the first digital remaster) totally killed sound

I can dream about it only. It is good analog record with f...ing HDCD digital mastering.

I assume that the version of DP on PI is an alternate mix (and not sure that it comes from the same take) and not a simple remaster of the version used for GH.

You are right it is alternate mix, and it was mastered (in HDCD too) by Bob Ludwig special for Best of DS & MK compilation.

The new  reissues mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analogue tapes and pressed on 180 gram audiophile quality vinyl are planned as following:

acousticsounds.com as well as musicdirect.com (Feb, Mar. and Apr.) but elusivedisc.com  displays your dates. Perhaps  Mar. Apr. and May are correct dates, because WBR's releases schedule for February does not contain Communique.

I used to have those original vinyls . . . .  Rarely have I ever done anything so stupid as to let them go.   There is a minor "vinyl explosion" these days.

Communique is confirmed by WB. The LP is released on Mar 02, 2010, cat. nbr. 93624969723
