Johnnie Walker
« on: January 01, 2025, 10:45:26 AM »
Some sad news - the legendary UK dj Johnnie Walker passed away on New Year’s Eve. Johnnie was one of the best (Ed Bicknell) who knew his music inside out, and both supported great music and made great discussions. Mark was a regular on Johnnie’s shows over the years and seemed more at ease than with anyone else. Their last discussion was back in march/ April for ODR - the reason for it being a telephone interview was because by that time Johnnie was housebound on oxygen, so Mark’s closing comment of “take care son” feels even warmer, acknowledging their friendship and life’s challenges ahead.

RIP Johnnie Walker. And thank you!

Sad news indeed. As a German, I am not too much into UK radio voices, presenters, dj's, but the voice of Johnnie Walker was very well known to me and very much admired as a very warmhearted, friendly one. Of course because of being a fan of MK I followed almost all of Mark's appearances on his shows and they were always interesting and nice. The good connection between the two was very obvious.

I don't want no sugar in it, thank you very much!

Sad news. I guess not UK fans know and respect these djs for their interviews to MK, and he always sounded very comfortable to be interviewed by them.
