Complete disrespect for Dire Straits by BBC Radio 2
« on: September 25, 2024, 06:16:50 PM »
BBC Radio 2 is voting on the Ultimate British Group(for National Album Day) and Dire Straits did not make the top 54 shortlist!
I am surprised by this but how can you compete when the shortlist includes:Banarama,Girls Aloud,M People,One Direction and Pink Floyd(remember to smile!)
The full list is here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/3wZzK0bfjZqW0FPrGCzCJTF/vote-for-your-ultimate-british-group

The BBC is a complete waste of time now.  Their output is a pale imitation of what it used to be.  Woke, biased, racist and they seem to attract their fair share of paedophiles.  I don't think I watch or listen to anything on it now.

Ken Bruce must be a tad upset.  He is a big fan of DS.

Simple: the songs have too many words!  :lol

The Simple Minds are not on the list either, and a few others, e.g. Jethro Tull, Marillion, the Animals, Tears for Fears, Foreigner, Ultravox, and the Shadows!

It's also ridiculous that Making Movies is among the special vinyl editions for National Album Day to celebrate "British groups" but is not on this list.

Yes, that's weird.
Maybe Mavis (or Gladys or Doris) is still in the background at the BBC, trying to punish Mark because of his "peroxide female" comment... 😄

It’s just the ongoing fallout of the failure/disinterest in protecting the legacy of DS.

The band will be forgotten sooner than it should be.

wow....woke AND racist? ....

Amounts to the same thing.  Afraid to offend minority groups; racist toward the majority.  Something they ironically call positive discrimination.

Exactly. Also we have to pay the licence fee to the BBC even if we only watch or listen to other channels.
