Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
« on: September 13, 2024, 02:44:35 PM »
Eric Clapton:

"The fact that someone like J.J. Cale has never been offered shows what this is or isn't. It's doubtful he'll ever be there. He's too anonymous for them. Another example is Paul Rodgers. He's a rebel. And this is not a place for rebels. This is a place for the establishment"

Eric is right.

They didn't invite J.J. Cale, that's a shame. And Eric is right about that.

Well he's right on both points, Paul Rodgers is a legend. But he's wrong on SO many other things.

Who cares about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anyway? "Hall of Fame", what a pathetic name. What if I have a Guitar Hall of Fame, can I bring Eric and Mark to play there just because? I love people who ignore the establishment, ignore authority and ignore the rules. David Bowie refused the knighthood and he famously flipped off HOF. My man!

These "institutions", for worse than they could be, still very alive because it's a "communication with fans" and keeps tha artist name on a Hall of Fame for ethernity. Many thinks that the RRHOF is responsible to validade the artists. So, for better or worse, in some way, RRHOF matters for the common audience.

I like when someone fights against the stablishment.
However, Ed's point to the DS induction are interesting.

Ed is correct, the DS "induction" was a total embarrassment, and if anyone wants to go back and check, I said it at the time!

I remember this heated discussion on the forum. It was probably one of the longest and most fascinating. ;)
