My number #1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia
See which songs you get

Found a list which does go back a long way and the song is "Moonlight Serenade", Glenn Miller!

Where did you find that list, Val? I think the number one when I was born was "Greensleeves" by Henry Tudor 8

My guess would be something by Bing Crosby. I'm too scared to look.
That was a good one, Marie!

Hi Jacki, Lovely to see you here! Hope you're feeling well!
"Moonlight Serenade" was # 1 in the US charts on my birthday, but in the UK I don't think we had charts then, but I suspect it would have been something by Vera Lynn. Interestingly, she is in the UK charts again and has just had a few weeks at # 1 again! The wheel has turned full circle, it seems!
