Some post seems to have disappeared in this thread. Or have you started a new one?

No, this one is the original, but Knopflerfan duplicated all the LP bonus threads to include the lyrics, instead of using the original ones, so most of the bonus tracks have duplicated threads, the original ones that I created, and the ones created after by Knopflerfan.

I suggest to the mods to merge them.

Very nice guitar. Do I hear echoes of So Far Away?:)
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

Really loving this song, especially the So Far Away chord slides. A relative of Your Perfect Song.

Aaaand... after three listens this one is now stuck in my head!

It's interesting how songs that appear unremarkable at first listen can go on to become favourites.

Now, if we weren't already huge MK fans and we weren't struck by a song at first listen we wouldn't keep going back for more.

I wonder if I listened to the new Taylor Swift album multiple times I would start getting favourites from that one  ???

My interpretation:

He's talking about what all the "ordinary" people are doing while he's flying about in his private jet on tour, but he still wishes he was with Kitty.

Thank you.

Thematically, the So Far Away echo indeed makes sense as it would be a similar setting (being away on tour/work, missing her)   but loaded with much more love and less making out on the telephone  ;D

Maybe this song was written by Mark a long time ago when he was still on tour ;)

Reminds me of Eastbound Train in terms of topic, except ET is so much more fun.
I'm still trying to understand the setting... Some middle-class family, golf, tea, planting flowers in allotments, kids at school?

He's talking about what all the "ordinary" people are doing while he's flying about in his private jet on tour, but he still wishes he was with Kitty.

Or rather how Kitty goes about her daily life (garden centers, picking up the kids, etc.) while Mark is away. The gardenkeeper, caretaker, etc. get to see her beauty. (Tall ... cool - long, cool girl), not Mark, who is away. And that he wants to be her leading man - a connection to Kitty's former career as an actress?

I feel like we're getting a snapshot of the Knopfler household here.

Agree on the others see her beauty, but he also says "they" so I think he is speaking about others in those bits.
:thumbsup

On my first listen I would thought of a bum travelling in his dreams, like an one in ragpicker's dream lol

As an non-native, with each new song you always get to learn few new words. This one includes: poized, doze off, muggy, saucers, and spilling out (in the term of people). I love that part too.
