In this One deep river album, Mark is singing better and better. Especially in Mr Solomons said.

I would have loved Mark to sing A night in summer long ago (in my opinion vocally failed) with his current voice !

As the fabulous Guitarist feature is no longer on the shelves, you can find it as a PDF here:

I find funny how much he highlights that he's a songwriter than a guitar player or than anything else, I don't find that he's a better songwriter than the one who wrote Sultans, Tunnel, Telegraph or Brothers, very back in the day, actually I'd say that he's now just a songwriter as he's not that guitar player anymore, but everytime he says that seems that he's like waiting the Nobel Prize of Literature, like Dylan.

I agree and I've wondered the same. Why is he so obsessed about telling people that he's only a songwriter nowadays. I feel like that is something people sort of deduce by themselves, just by listening what kind of music he's been doing since 1996.

I think that there a prize that Mk pursuits is the Composers Hall Of Fame.
About the "songwriter first", I think that he is telling to himself that he is unable to play like he used to play and he is telling to the press that he dont practice anymore because COVID or age.
He is a terrific songwriter? Oh yes.
But his signature is the combination by his voice and guitar. His magic is between his lyrics, singing and playing.

Well, it's a gently way to say that he is with health issues.
Unfornunately, he is not aging fisically well.

Seeing his TV Show and watch Tom Jones (80yo) and Carlos (76yo), it is a pity to see MK aging the way he does. I will not talk about Eric (79yo) and John McLaughlin(82yo).

I am not complain.
ODR is very well sung and played. MK made a HUGE effort to deliver the album. And is great to see him promoting it (even when he tells the same stories)
It is a pity to see our favorite artist unable to deliver it that the way he used to.

The Composers Hall of Fame would be nice of course, but it would mean he'd have to go there for the ceremony ;-)

But I think you're right: it's maybe his way of saying that the focus has shifted and that the guitar is no longer the main thing.

Actually I'm not sure that he is pursuing to get any prize, although he certainly seems to be enjoying the public recognition he is now getting. He didn't do such a lot of interviews for Tracker, did he?
Especially the music press in the U.K. somehow weren't taking him very seriously as an artist for a long time, maybe because of the "pop music" image of DS, so at least now he is finally acknowledged on the same level as Van Morrison, James Taylor etc.
As far as prizes go, he's already got the Ivor Novello Award, which is probably as good as it gets for a songwriter.
The Nobel Prize is probably not on the cards, because he is (and sees himself as) a songwriter, not a poet like Dylan. And I think for the Nobel Prize they will expect a writer to be more political and outspoken in their views.
But for MK, I think a knighthood for services to music (and to the world) might be a good idea - it's about time  :)

I'd like to finally listen to different MK album but all the time something is pulling me to One Deep River.
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

Have to be honest - I haven't listen to the album for over a week now.  Whether the EP has anything to do with it I don't know, but it's yesterdays news.

Did I understand correctly? Do you like the EP better? :)

That's not what I meant - although it's an interesting comparison - it's really just that coming so soon after the album it's overshadowed it.
