So, in your head, does STP include Do America and One More Matinee?

It does to me, that's how I always heard it.

But I bet people from other countries feel differently.

One More Matinee is definitely the album closer for me since 2000,  one of the most perfect ones he has ever done. Funnily I just learned only a few weeks ago that it was not on the US release which is a bold thing to do with such a good song. Do America always was a strange bonus thing to me which doesn't belong onto the record.

But those were the times where still b-sides were produced although both cd-singles had so many good songs and could have been called EP's on its own.

The whole affair about questionable dealing with extra- or bonus tracks really started when Get Lucky came out and they made the first Box Set.

Well for me the confusion started with STP.

I know what all the DS albums are (although some people will tell you that Badges is part of the Twisting EP!)

For me it's going weird to have two different MK records in the same month, no matter one of them is just an EP with four songs.

Very much looking forward to all these new songs.

Yes indeed. The notes say that the songs on the EP are (lyrically) based im the 50's and 60's. To me, that would be the KTGC sound, especially We Can Get Wild. I think the song titles sound very interesting. I would bet there is at least one acoustic guitar song with only Mark on it like River Of Grog or Heart Of Oak.. , or some steamy blues like Song For Sonny Liston..

I'm just hoping I can get a copy of the EP. Seems to be low numbers.

Do I remember correctly that Nigel Hitchcock and Tom Walsh joined in the second part of the session? If so, there will be no shortage of brass atmosphere.  ;)

(although some people will tell you that Badges is part of the Twisting EP!)

It was on the copy I bought back in the day!

Also, the STP thing is really a separate issue.  In their infinite stupidity, Warner Bros. didn't like One More Matinee, thought it was "too English", and asked to replace it with Do America for the US release.  Bad trade IMO, but that's just me.  It had nothing to do with bonus tracks.  Back then it seems all the "bonus tracks" were "b-sides" or attached to singles.

I mean, it is is to do with bonus tracks, or at least "extra music" for the UK.

And here's the Australian version with no Do America.

The point is, there are different versions of that album floating around, which is crazy.

And today we would call the single What It Is a real EP:)

So, in your head, does STP include Do America and One More Matinee?

It does to me, that's how I always heard it.

But I bet people from other countries feel differently.

STP must be considered an album in a variety of versions, as they were released simultaneously as "STP".

What they are doing now seems more logical. Burying songs as b-sides was also a frustrating practice, as they would be unheard by the majority of the audience, especially a few years later.

To me the ‘real’ STP is the version with One More Matinee and without Do America. From that time I remember this was indeed the initially intended worldwide release. However, US legislation required STP to be labeled with a ‘parental advisory adult content’ sticker because the lyrics of One More Matinee contained the word ‘bitch’. To be categorized this way would be inappropriate for an MK album, so therefore it was decided to replace this track with another song that was recorded but not initially intended to be included on the album.
