Reviews coming in now. One posted in another thread. Today I saw one in Uncut. 8 out if 10, short, mentioned slow and measured, quiet gentle etc, similar overall to the other review. Said Watch Me Gone was the highlight.

Hi Nick14!
Can you post the review?  Thank you.

I don't I'm afraid. I read a hard copy in a shop! It was short. Very much along the lines of the review we do have a link to. Reflective, meditative etc.

Heartfelt songs from the

During “Watch Me
Gone”, a highlight
from his atmospheric
new album, Mark
Knopfler indulges in
a couple of rock’n’roll
fantasies: “Maybe I’ll hit the road with
Bob/Or maybe I’ll hitch a ride with Van”,
he sings in his signature pre-coffee
grumble, as warm and weathered as
ever. While the veteran songwriter and
guitarist has indeed shared stages with
both legends, his tentative, bittersweet
tone signals the inspiration for this
diverse batch of songs, dreamed up
during Covid lockdown. Characterised
by a laid-back, full-band sound, this
heartfelt music exudes the warm thrill
of catching up and looking back among
old friends. SAM SODOMSKY

Thank you very much :) I don't know why, but I really like reading reviews without knowing the album,

I don't pay much attention to those reviewers, if I did, I won't be listening to most of what I do!!
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Music reviews are pointless these days.

It used to be helpful to get an opinion on an album before you spent a sizeable amount of cash on it.

Now you can stream instantly to see if you like it or not.

I could have written this review after having listened to Watch Me Gone. I bet this guy hasn't heard the complete album yet.

I will buy anything that Mark releases regardless of what a review says.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

In the past JF and Railking got early access for reviewing. How is that this year?
