Difficult task, usually this:

STP: Wanderlust
RPD: A Place Where We Used to Live
SL: Boom Like That
KTGC: Scaffolder's wife
GL: So Far from the Clyde
P: Yon Two Crows
T: Basil

When I finished I noticed that in my choices, only 3 were played live, I made the choice thinking about them in their studio versions.

I don't think that A Fistful of Ice cream is Private Investigation revisited, I rather think it's the contrary...

I think that A Fistful of Ice cream was the first arrangement Mark had for the song. In the Oldfield book, he talks about a "melody in italian cinema style".
So I think he had this kind of melody in head first.
Then, he composed PI and changed it a little bit, adding the News outro from OL tour
and then, after, when he recorded the Comfort & Joy soundtrack, he came up again with his first idea of the music

well, of course, it's just speculation ...

"I wrote a melody in the style of Ennio Morricone and performed it myself on acoustic guitar because I wasn't working with a band at the time. I had another piece in the same key, so I combined them. I didn't develop any songwriting method. This time I simply combined two pieces that happened to fit together"

excatly  :thumbsup
the french translation of the book don't say "Morricone", but rather "italian movie music style"
and indeed, the 2nd part of A fistul of icecream sounds very much mediterranean style

Yeah, but to be honest, Mark's "Last Exit To Brooklyn" sounds way more like Morricone, down to a direct lifting of the part of the melody from Morricone's "Once Upon a Time in the West" as a little homage I think.

Last exit to Brooklyn is very similar to Cavalleria rusticana's intermezzo.
