Watching this just now (thanks again to Schmonka ad everyone else involved) and there's a nice close up of the front of MK's strat on StP. Can't see a signature on the headstock though. Was he not playing a sig strat, or can I just not see it on the DVD?

That one isn't not a signature one, I think.

Well I haven't looked close to the Strat so I can't talk about that, but what really caught my eye was the shine of the signature on the fretboard on his beautiful Martin guitar. That was really magical.

Probably it is his new custom shop Fender.
He played it on the WDR 2 Gig also.

Maybe you can have a look over here: http://www.fender.com/customshop/instruments/search.php?partno=1509900882
I think it is this guitar, or Mark has ordered himself a custom guitar on his specifications.
Perhaps we could ask Guy about it but i doubt he knows anyting about this guitar.

Yep that's true it is a custom shop fender strat. You can see at this picture the Custom Shop logo instead of his signature.
But it is a different Custom because this one has got 21 frets and the custom has got 22 frets.
And as far as I can see the fingerboard is differtent too.
And there is a string tree on the head of Mark his guitar.

Yep that must be true.
But I am then the sucker who wants to know which pickups are used in his guitar.

Don't think he wants to have the standards:
1 Custom

How can we be sure this isn't a vintage Strat?

You can`t replace a headstock if you want you`ll have to replace the whole neck.
I can`t imagine Mark will do that.
I think the guitar Mark was playing on the showcases is a new one.
On the Pic ustas posted you can clearly say some filthy things on the pickguard.

Yes, doesn't look like the Strat in that particular picture, but at the same time that doesn't necessrily mean it's a new one either.
