Woburn Abbey for radio as well, Radio 1 made a big deal out of it at the time.

It's a pity they never sorted out the mix properly.  Danny and Chris White are over and above everything else.  Pity because it sounds one of the best shows of the tour.
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."

Regarding Denmark and Woburn Abbey. Yes, I knew I either didn't make note at the time, or have forgotten since.
In the end, the gig required 110% every show, so I can't remember ever thinking that a show was going to be broadcast live - it generally felt like just another gig.

As far as I remember, broadcasted by TV, Basel June 92 and Nimes, I think October 92.

Radio, Copenhaguen and Wobburn Abbey, although Copenhaguen was broadcasted just a few songs as far as I recall.

I think there was 6 tracks here in Denmark.

The first time I met Paul was a Friday afternoon jam session, which turned out to be an informal audition.
The whole thing was a blur. After he left I realised I hadn't taken any of it in. I hoped it wasn't going to be a one off, so I could enjoy it the next time. Luckily they called me again.

The only downer DS gig I think was the final show in Zaragoza. We flew in from Barcelona. I used to like to walk around a city before we played, get the vibe. I also found all the flying quite exhausting. The weather wasn't great (iirc), cool and grey. After the show we were bundled into a car and driven back to the airport to fly back to Barcelona. No party, no thanks, no hanging out with the crew to say goodbye after a very hard and long experience.
Best memories? Usually any spectacular venue in a very nice location - so probably Nimes and Verona.

Earls Court was a private recording made as a gif to Liz Whatley, from Damage Management, for his birthday, it is in no way proffesional recording at all, just a tape recorder plugged to the desk.

Oslo 92 seems the same, a tape recorded plugged to the desk or a monitors recording made by who knows who and why, it´s not proffesional either.

What you say as "filmed concert" might say "TV LIVE BROADCAST"

I've listened to it once.
I experienced it 300+ times in real life, I don't need much of a recap.

I think it perfectly describes the last DS gig in Zaragoza you wrote about earlier in this thread. After 300+ shows and more than a year of touring, who in his right mind would want to organise a party to celebrate the occasion of wrapping up? I just returned home after living in a foreign country for more than a year, which felt like a tour but without travelling and fun, and it was so exhausting, that the last thing I wanted to do was to celebrate it. Just too many other things to care about :-\

Everyone but Mark and John?
You want to thank the crew for all their hard work. It is a final moment to take it all in, the craziness, the extremes..... it is closure.
Instead we arrived back to a darkened, empty hotel In Barcelona.
I'm not a party animal, don't use drugs and don't drink to excess, but we had a post final gig party at the end of the McCartney tour and it was a glorious celebration of everything we achieved. Paul and Linda went around and thanked everyone personally for their hard work. And rightly so.
It's odd to me that in every thread in which you post you start from the POV that Mark is always right and everyone else is wrong.

I totally agree. It's such an cold-hearted behavior if you ask me. At the end of the day these people has been more or less your family for well over a year.

I just work for MK as an attorney part-time, never mind :lol

But seriously, I can perfectly understand your feelings and where you're coming from. It's indeed ridiculous not to mark the occasion of the end of such a long journey and the end of Dire Straits altogether, which I'm pretty sure Mark knew at the time it was coming to the end. It could be another reason not to be overly dramatic about it.

I'm just trying to look at the situation from every conceivable angle. Maybe it was the weather, or strange logistics (why not finish in one city anyway?), or build-up of emotions or fatigue, so I can understand all parties involved. Mark could easily be the only one who didn't want to acknowledge the end of things.

But this is where it always ends... With Mark. He had his reasons for behaving this way, and he dealt with the most pressure as well. He's not always right, but he's a human being with his life, decisions to be made, personal life, etc.. We sometimes act foolish at the moment and regret about it years later. Nobody's always right.

These things are planned months in advance. It has nothing to do with the weather or the mood that week.
I think Mark was in a bad place and wanted to get away from the tour and the tour personnel as quickly as possible.
I think professional people do the right thing though, whatever they feel. And the right thing to do was to personally thank the 8 band members, 150 odd crew, plus promoters and office staff, all the people who worked very, very hard to make the tour the success it was.
Kinda spoilt to just walk away thanking no one.

PS: Everyone knew from 1991 this was going to be Dire Straits swan song, the final tour, the end of the band.

This is interesting because it is often said that Mark was fed up and wanted to get away. But no one forced him. He wanted this tour, he loved it. And the reports show that before he started the tour, he had had enough. Something doesn't add up here ;)

No, he didn't. How many more times do you need Chris and other band personnel to tell you that he was angry and bored 90% of the time? And even if you don't believe them, just listen to any interview of him in 91/92 or observe his behaviour during the 24 heures documentary or at all any concert from that time.
He did the tour only to escape his personal problems (failing marriage, divorce and his father's disease) and as a final cash grab.

Or take it from the man himself. Every time he's been asked about the 91/92 period, I've never heard him reply with affection or as it had been a good period in his life. It's either a negative, indifferent or deflecting answer.

"My favourite song is My Parties, from On Every Street."
"Oh yeah? I don't remember"
