A well put together ad is doing the rounds on social media. Nice to see some half decent publicity going into this release....

Just saw that on Marks socials... a very pleasant surprise, can't wait to hear the Rainbow show. Imagine if they'd included a BIA concert too? Looking forward to more DS releases as the years roll on now.

Rainbow Theater, December 21. So the last concert of Communique tour.
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

They are on Google Play music as well.
Fantastic DTTW indeed, but... It seems that this is not the same night as on the BBC Arena documentary. Here Mark is less chatty (on the BBC Arena he talks a lot at the beginning: "We are going to get some new songs into and... You call them! We'll just go and play them"), a bit less fast, a bit less drunk probably... I think I still prefer the BBC Arena "drunk" version, quite unique, which must December 20th, then, if this one is December 21st?

Hi guys, it’s been a long time!

I just listened to the 3 tracks and Wow, the Doc did an amazing job on the mix, it's impressive for a 1979 concert.
If I realised that the chances were slim,
How come I'm so surprised when the tide rolled in

A full Alchemy release has been a dream forever, I could almost cry, I'm so happy about it! :D

Really curious about OTN also. Everybody has been complaining about the sound for years. It would be way easier to remix the already released songs instead of making the unreleased songs sound like the 1993 release. Or, perhaps they were already mixed at the time?

The other great missing song is Iron Hand. But unlike PONO it is less of a problem. Listening to the Paris 1992 version on YouTube I noticed that it is virtually identical to the studio version, only with a lot of audience clapping... So better listen to the album!

However, in 1991 the song was played similarly to the alternate Tommy White sessions - with flute. To me this version is so much more touching... It's a mystery to me why this version is not the one which ended up on the album, and why Mark reverted to the "normal" version live, after a nice try of this fluty alternate version. So many mysteries with Mark...

This version of Lady Writer for me is apotheotic, as is certainly everything in this show, which has an unparalleled atmosphere. What an incredible feeling listening to this record, it It will probably be one of the most special and favorite of all time for me. I say it again, this is pure gold!!!! :clap

Listening to the version of Down to the Waterline we can see that the production team for the Arena program made some edits, including some of Mark's lines that are certainly from another moment in the show, in addition to the fact that in Arena they cut some small parts of the introduction. Anyway, a privilege to hear Sultans of Swing in full, as it was incomplete on BBC ARENA, just like OUATITW, we will soon be able to hear it in full. I just know that I will listen to this show many, many times, it has everything I love most about Dire Straits, this end of the Communiqué tour is something from another dimension, everything sounded incredibly wonderful.

The licks made in SOS and Lady Writer are just fabulous, very fluid and brimming with creativity, Mark was singing with 100% the spirit of Bob Dylan during this period, I love this "incarnation!

Completely agree! I'm not encyclopedic with bootlegs so I can't compare these to many other versions but the quality is outstanding & the vibe..., so so good! What an amazing experience it must have been to have been in a club in their early days or a larger club venue on this tour! This whole release is such an unexpected official turnaround ("MK doesn't look back") for DS fans! My dreams of unreleased studio outtakes will now flourish into another future boxset.

I'm not sure about 22nd. The guy who asked the question assumed that the one on the MFN compilation was July 22nd. But we know in fact that this is neither 21st nor 22nd, but a date in June (as stated in the copyright), most likely Paris. Seems to be some confusion here, maybe with Guy as well!

Also, didn't Guy once said that they recorded all shows from the BIA tour? Strange then that none is included!!
