I think Guy was playing the pedal steel. He wasn't being filmed. There was a lot of downtime, hanging around while they set up lights and different camera angles.
I took my stills camera with me, there are also some behind the scenes videos on Youtube.
Of the band, Phil, Danny C and Chris White weren't involved in that video. The rest of us were there.

In the 70's and 80's I liked Todd Rundgren.
In the 80's and 90's I liked Pat Metheny.
Drumming-wise I liked Narada Michael Walden and Prairie Prince (The Tubes).

did not see that coming...
also, as a non-drummer, that name does not ring a bell.
not the usual, Jim Keltner, Jeff Porcaro, John Bonham, Nick masons that i had expected :-)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

I admire most studio drummers (in particular).
Yes, I absolutely loved Jeff Porcaro and Andy Newark and admired their work - at the time I was trying to do similar standard work in the studio (1980's). Those were the guys I looked up to.
But as far as in my formative years, earlier in my teens etc it was Narada and Prairie Prince.

In the marketing e-mails from DS.com for the box, they repeatedly referred to the OES tour as the "eponymous" tour. This does not make sense, does it?

It seems that they think that the tour was called the On the Night tour, though it was not, or what am I missing?

 :) :)

Anyway, the songs from their final, monster, legendary OES tour are on constant repeat!

I've been listening to the Tunnel of Love version from the box quite a bit. Overall, I like it, but Mark's clean tone and Phil's Sultans-like strumming on the high strings mean that the guitar sound is thin overall, with very little bass string crunch.

Anyway, I just listened to the TOL version from the Mandela warm-up gig, and in the breakdown section in the middle of the song, Mark plays the instrumental passage from Springsteen's Tunnel of Love song. Just before he starts to play that part, and he plays it twice, he says "Tunnel of Love", which seemed a bit off before I realised that he was referring to ANOTHER Tunnel of Love  :)

It's at 5:40 here:

always loved the middle part
but not being a Springsteen nut, and (upon checking just now) really not liking his "tunnel of love", can someone pinpoint me to the exact timestamp for the above mentioned "event"?
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

In the clip I posted, it starts at about 5:40, as I mentioned. It goes on for a bit.

And Bruce's TOL is a gem  ;)
