Mark Knopfler's Sunburst Schecter
« on: June 05, 2023, 12:09:53 PM »
Just stumbled upon this; wasn't this guitar stolen in the '80's and then replaced? Would this be the stolen one??

The stolen one had a white plaque (can't remember the name in English), that one in the pic substituted the stolen schecter

The answer to your question is on the website itself

"The guitar has unique features such as no dot markers and a side mounted input jack which set it apart from the original model which was stolen from Mark."

oh yes, it seems I was a bit too enthusiastic about the find and should have read it properly first ;-)
But then again, I would have thought he would've kept every guitar he had in his collection, but apparently some (?) are floating around the globe!

no, the Stolen one didn't have a white pickguard, but a "gold" one. it's just that on some pics you could think it was white.

the replaced one was sold in charity auction

Ingo had the chance to play it, when going by the guy who bought it

Such a legend...and great guitar too!  Such history: from Alchemy to travelling the world on the record breaking BIA tour and appearing at the Princes' Trust show in 1986.  And doesn't that wood look fantastic!
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."
