I agree with that MK isn't the conventional celebrity (if such exists), disagree about Guy, but never mind.
Eric Clapton chose announcing his hearing loss. MK might be different. I *respect* MK preference and have no concrete info to judge his decisions (not to mention that it's non of my business).
In how to treat your fans, as someone who followed (and sometimes met) both - MK is 10 times friendlier, charming and kind to his fans.
I can perfectly understand where Mark is coming from in that regard. A lot of celebrities have the same approach... From the top of my head, I know Brad Pitt is completely absent from any social media. James Cameron once said something like social media is a bunch of monkeys picking lice from other monkeys. For this phrase alone I hated Cameron for a long time, but he turned out to be a very friendly and down-to-earth guy, and the funniest thing is that he finally acknowledged social media and is now available, though extremely rare, but he tweeted from the Challenger Deep literally from the bottom of the ocean and joined Instagram with a video statement. So people do change sometimes
Not Mark's case, though, simply because I can't even imagine him on social media engaging with somebody, not even something like Reddit's AMA thing. No autocomplete interviews, no cameos, no nothing, and that deserves some respect actually. You sort of assume he has better things to do, and that's probably true.
I talked to a lot of people who've met MK, and obviously, he's a true gentleman and a hero, he loves his fans, just not the "conventional way" as you've said.
