On previous visits to London (I live in England but about 200 miles away from the capital) I've come across a few places mentioned in the Dire Straits discography. The Cutty Sark (Francis Chichester's ship, featured in Single Handed Sailor) is in Greenwich towards the eastern side of London. Shaftesbury Avenue (Wild West End) is on the western side of the city centre in the middle of the commercial area, while Speaker's Corner (Industrial Disease) is also on the western side near the Marble Arch at the northeast corner of Hyde Park. It's worth noting if you're also into Pink Floyd that Hyde Park isn't far from Battersea Power station and you can catch a glimpse of the structure put to unforgettable use on the Animals album cover (it has now been converted to a residential development but the four towers remain unmistakable).
