I think these releases will come in time; but we still may have to wait a while, and as others have said, we have some great fan resources out there in the meanwhile.  However, even if I have the recordings already I would like for them to be released and for MK / DS to have had an input into their releases, so they have an element of authenticity about them, plus everything that comes in a package of that nature (proper photos, liner notes etc. and the best basis of sound quality possible).

There are several outstanding shows which would have wider appeal than just the hardcore fanbase.

If you look at the catalogues of Hendrix and Bob Marley, it took several decades for unreleased material (specifically live concerts) to come forward from their estates.  Probably the focus will still be on new MK solo material for the time being, if you get my drift.

I have no time to wait for the Mk estate doing it, I won't live forever  ;D  ;D  ;D

Even if we know these shows the fact that the record company would be able to get the master recording and give them state of the art mastering would be velcome.
The sort of thing that only a record company is able to do.

This model-guitar + usb-stick packgage will be more desirable for fans at a much lower price combined with really interesting recordings from BIA-worldtour together. All other mentioned Live in 85 / 86 shows are wellknown to the fan-community, but what about less known shows in much better sound-quality, if it is possible in the near future, like Christchurch 1986 full show in best soundquality, or Split Yugoslavia 1985 (The Kick-off show for BIA-Tour) in best sound. ?? Im of the opinion, there are some other examples for fine live shows 1985 for that USB-Stick offer. :think

In 1985 in order to record live shows they had to hire a mobile recording unit that was quite expensive. As far as I know they recorded none of the concerts of that tour so the only ones available are the ones that were broadcasted by radio and TV stations, that means they only can use any of those to whatever release.

Even for those TV and radio broadcasts they used mobile stations, but it was the media who paid for it. The Wembley 85 TV broadcast used the Rolling stones mobile!

Yes, and it was mixed by the great Bob Clearmountain as well.

One thing that remains unclear about this release is whether these are new transfers from the original sources...or just basically taken from an internet download.  :lol
The sad part is I'm sure someone official behind the band name could, with some effort and the right contacts, unearth some never before heard recordings. But they seem to put 0 effort in.

"never before heard recordings", if they recorded something we don't know, maybe. I never heard or read they recorded anything from that tour by themselves, as they didn't had the intention to release a live album, as they released alchemy just prior to BIA already.

Some of the bootleg editions already used the best sources as possible, which are from the radio and TV stations and I doubt very much that any of the radio and TV have multichannel recordings of everything they had broadcasted along the years so, this is probably the only source for it.

I am tempted to buy it to get clarification ;)
I wrote the management about the content of songs but never heard a thing. Guess some of you did the same.

When you say better, does that mean that this release probably includes better versions than we already got ?

Cheers Peter

Modern music technology allows for the perfect separation of any sound from even the most basic of sources. Look at some of the beatles remasters for an example. Drums, guitar, bass, etc, all on single mono tracks separated back into multi track. With some time and effort on
MKs management's part (yes I know!) The original tapes from Sydney etc could be restored back to miltitrack. Its expensive and time consuming  but this is what they should do, but we all know they wont!

Are they kidding with that price ?!!!   :o

And we don't even know which shows !
If it's to get yet another version of Wembley '85 or Sydney '86 ...   ::)

Let's have rarities for a change :
How about MK and JJ Cale - Sweetwater Cafe, San Francisco ?
We all know it was recorded ...

now that would be something, BUT, i have been hunting this for years now, was in contact with JJ's manager, to no avail. as far as i was told there was NO recording. so where did you hear this?

From JJ Cale himself. He said so in an old interview.

Has anyone heard the mp3 recordings yet?  If so, can you give us a review on sound quality / contrast with bootleg releases please ?

Thanks

They are very well mixed between considering they come from different concerts, it flows naturally like one concert. Sound is excellent.

So are these examples from an - until now - unreleased source? Are they better sounding than what we are used to already?
