That's not a release. That's why they don't know about it, at least Guy.

Lol

The funny thing is I'm not answering people, I'm answering posts! So don't take it personally, because is not, it never is!

What I mean is that content in the usb is not a release by the record company or MK. Is something that the people from "fan community" decided it would be nice to put as a bonus, they as the management if they are ok with that, the management asks MK and he says yes or no. Nobody from the record company or MK team is involved further than giving their ok. Of course nobody asks Guy as he has not any role on this, unless is needed, like with the Atmos thing, that is a totally different matter as that comes from the record company!

And how they select that content for the bonus? The company is called "fan community", they have contact with fans!

You might get lucky, now and then

Mark has a recording contract that covers RELEASE of studio and live performance.

No live recording can be sold to the public without the record company approval neither.

Dunno what to think about it. I think by this point you should be accustomed to ridiculous pricing in MK's world, I mean the guy seriously was trying to promote a 20K dollar signature guitar that was sold out to collectors before it was even announced. So a bit overpriced toy guitar is not that surprising.

More surprising to me is why not release a new album in a form of a guitar, for instance? I'd buy it. I won't buy boring CDs! When you can put digital files on that USB stick that actually outperform CD in quality, and it's the year 2022.

They are not selling a live recording, they are selling a mini guitar replica. But yes, in order to offer the bonus they need the rights of the content they are giving.

Hats off to you, that’s SUPERB!! Thank you!!

Can anyone post a link to Binone’s top notch version please?
This is the link to that copy. I have to say it comes from a reel tape that was converted to digital with a low bitrate. The audio, for me, is the best existing. The video, upgraded with AI, can show artifacts because of the low bitrate of the transfer made from the original reel tape.

How do you have that confirmation?

Not any guitar had been sent yet so it's literally impossible that anyone has it and can tell you the content.

From the official website. I emailed them last week.

I don't understand a bit. It's a fan initiative, not a label, right? But Mark Knopfler gives the green light because the information is on the official MK website. And those concerts from the BIA tour are also from the fans?

No.

Those concerts are from the radio and TV stations that broadcasted them originally.

Obviously if the MK fan community can use it they might had bought the rights.

I still can't believe that the '85 live recordings doesn't have a proper release from the record company.

The concerts involved are the ones everyone else predicted a week ago: San Antonio 85, Wembley 85 and Sydney 86.
We've all listened to these a million times. Once again, nothing new here. It's just them trying to milk the cow for easy money. I would rather stick to the great (and free!) version our spanish friends uploaded on Youtube.
