Actually there are two boxes with the national mini guitar:

One says "Mark Knopfler" and contains a usb with three programs of the Sirious Xfm radio programme titled British Grove.

The other says "DS - BIA" and includes a best of the BIA tour.

So, die hard collectors would have to buy both!
You might get lucky, now and then

Whatever the recording is we probably already have it in some form, however I would like it to go on record that this is much appreciated and more in line with what I've been expecting - much better than recycling official albums over and over.  However, I can't justify forking out this sort of money.

Releasing unreleased live recordings - appreciated.

Releasing them in MP3 format - not appreciated.

Bundling them with over priced tat - really not appreciated.

Did you guys see this though?

This unique 32GB engraved USB key will arrive pre-loaded with ‘Best Of’ recordings in MP3 format from the 1985/86 Brothers In Arms world tour. You’ll also receive downloads of your choice of five shows from the MarkKnopfler.com tour archive.

I only see MK solo tours on the site. Maybe they eventually will make available DS shows too?

Edit: The formatting on this forum is crazy sometimes, especially when you copy and paste from other sites.

Seems the most likely interpretation. One may always hope. As is always the case with MK  ;D

However, there is something everyone is getting confused here.

The thing you are buying is the guitar replica. The usb with whatever content is a bonus, not the item you are buying, so the bonus can't be more exclusive than the item, otherwise they would sell it as a main product, not including it as a bonus.

I understand everyone wants to get new stuff, me too, but the price is not for the bonus, but for the guitar.

Yes, I think that is clear to everyone. The sad thing is that they do have recordings and are willing to sell them, but to get them you need to buy an expensive replica / toy guitar. In which I have zero – 0 – interest. It's just wrong to treat faithful fans like this.

First, again, they are not selling the usb with those recordings, they are selling the guitar, and...

No, you don't need to buy the guitar to get them, there will be other way, kind of...

The first mini guitar, the Gibson, it had an usb with compilation of soundboards of all MK tours where the soundbards were available to purchase. Those compilations are on the MK YouTube account so anyone can listen to them without having to buy the guitar because, it was a bonus, not the product.

I guess they would upload videos like those to the official YouTube channel sometime, so just keep stay tuned to their social media as they announce those videos there.

And don't worry, as you are not missing a thing, we all have those recordings!

Maybe it's a language barrier thing here ...

But we agree: They are not selling the USB stick and the mp3s. They are an added bonus. However, so far the only way of getting those mp3s is to buy the guitar. So, I don't know. It sucks big time any way you look at it.

Whilst we might have heard the recordings before I am interested in what kind of quality that they will appear in.  You would hope that there is a general quality bar threshold that the record company would require to reissue these recordings.   Even more interesting if they have somehow accessed master tapes to remix.

These sets spring to mind:

Wembley 85 Soundboard - issued on Westwood One vinyl LPs.  Top quality
Houston 85 - again issued through American Radio network LPs, top quality
San Antonio - this seems to rest as a master with Westwood but not issued on LP - recently issued in top quality as a CD bootleg you can get for about £12 from Amazon and before that as the 'Secrets in the Closet' bootleg
Sydney 86 this has been issued as a bootleg, recently on vinyl from a pre-broadcast source.

What would be interesting if there are other shows - some from New York 85, the very early part of the tour or December 1985 that came to fruition.  Unlikely but we can live in hope.
