Local Hero played at Sir Bobby Robsons memorial service.
« on: September 21, 2009, 06:55:09 PM »
Hi.
As a supporter of Ipswich Town Football Club, i was obviously saddened to hear of the death of Sir Bobby Robson back in July of this year.
I was lucky enough to have a season ticket as a child when Ipswich won the FA Cup in 78, and the UEFA Cup in 81. Both won under Sir Bobby Robsons reign.

I was watching his memorial service on Sky News today, and at the end of the service, the organist played 'Local Hero'.
It sounded a bit strange played on the church organ, but nevertheless, a fitting tribute to such a great man. :)

I've yet to find any footage , but if i come across anything on You Tube or such like, i'll post the link.

Cheers   BBB
And a crowd of young boys they're fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles.

The man was a hero - local and national!

The way he turned his personal "cancer journey" into the force for raising funds for research and the building of treatment centres that it became was truly admirable.

A fitting choice of music!

RIP Sir Bobby!
