While my immediate sympathy goes to the Ukranian people, I feel so sorry for regular Russians. Thousands now arrested just because they are voicing their opposition to this war. Not to mention the many Russian soldiers who have been deployed to do Putin's dirty work, many of whom for sure are acting contrary to their conscience. But they know if they disobey orders or desert, they will face severe punishment and very likely their families as well. There's no end to the cruelty that sick bastard is capable of.

I can't imagine how difficult life must be for ordinary Russians just now with all the sanctions that have been applied. Unfortunately they had to be applied because it's just about the only instrument that can be used to exert pressure on Putin without starting WW3, but it's ordinary people who will be affected, not Putin and his cronies.

Thank you Dusty. It's incredibly hard for me, I cry every day and try to think about future that doesn't exist. What happens here is basically clinical death. No job, no money, no future. Only trying to stay positive, which is easier said than done, and hope for the best. Get ready for the worst. There are people in better position than myself, a lot of people were able to get out of the country, but I'll stay here.

I'm also very sorry about you and the other Russians here. Suffering the consequences of the decisions of someone that very clearly don't give a damm about his citiziens.

I wish you the best.

Try to explain that to the father of the 18 month old child killed today when Putins army broke cease fire and attacked people trying to get out of a besieged city (Kharkiv)

What is your point Tomcaster? No one here is denying the awful realities happening in Ukraine. Do you not think that an understanding of the antecedents of this current aggression is important? That's really all I was saying.....

What I want to say is that these presenting a logic that "it is US fault that they came too close to US borders" is wrong because it's not the fault of Ukraine that they are neighbors to Mr. Putin. People die because they wanted to be more than a buffer zone. When discussions become to theoretical it is important to remind them of the result of the twisted thinking of that regime.

I also fully support the suffering young liberal Russians that see their country moving away further from the west and into the arms of probably the Chinese. Unfortunately if they want to change that faith they also need to do something about it. Easy to say from a warm chair somewhere in the EU, but this is the only way.

For me there is not any excuse to invade another country and kill their people. Whatever you say to justify it it's just bullshit.

Don’t waste your time, my friend. Some people are either too lazy to think outside the box or scared of people doing so. It just amazes me how one can look up to the likes of Fidel, Che and Lenin and still feel eligible to criticize others on wars and so on.

Wanna have a good time here? Listen to the press, accept it. There’s the good guy, the bad guy and noble organizations looking after you. Anything or everything other than that is a conspiracy. Copy that?
