Here's the tracks released for the cancelled RPD tour that have never been played on tour:

quality shoe
old pigweed
devil baby

Obviously we heard these on promo events but not a tour.

Devil Baby was played in Amsterdam, second night on 2008 tour .  I was there.

So it was.  Think it was played a couple of times.  Apologies.

wasn't devil baby played on that first 2008 tour show in Amsterdam, was there but cannot remember. also, the Terminal rehearsal mentioned earlier, was that not a live performance for this "secret gig" ?
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

I've corrected my Devil baby error.  :smack

The original question was songs that weren't played "on tour" and this show I would regard as a one-off gig.   :)

Yep!

I remember that concert. I recorded on VHS cassette. December 7, 2000 Lokomotywa Club, Warsaw.

This is probably the only version of Fade To Black we know.

Apparently, some desirable songs from Down The Road was in the works for 2019 tour. I remember Guy said they "tried" "One Song At A Time" or something. But unfortunately, lately Mark write songs he can't even perform on stage, so I think it's pretty understandable why many of the great tracks are abscent from live shows. I think "Lights Of Taormina" Mark would love to play it 100%, but it's just too hard to sing it for 80 shows in a row. Another reason why he'd better slow down!

Wonder why he didn't at least give OSAAT a go 'live' unless he struggled with it?? It's quite a simple tune compared to some that I can't imagine them not being able to play it?!

I can only imagine he struggled with the lyrics or singing of the song.  Very interesting information though Mr. Q.

I can remember Guy released a list of all the songs they had rehearsed for the RPD tour and I copied it at the time, just for future reference.  It was the only time I could recall him being so revealing to the fans!

There are more in the Argentina and Brazil promo shows.

I downloaded at somepoint a soundcheck of "Terminal Of Tribute To" before Tracker tour. It is a shame they did not choose to do it. Great song.

I haven‘t heard about a soundcheck of TOTT. Where can this be found or downloaded?

The soundquality was not that good so I deleted it. Guess you can find it here: https://knopflertk.org/tracker/index.php

Devil Baby was also played in 2003 in Amsterdam (Edison Awards). I guess his last gig before the crash? He played an awesome WII as well with an extented outro.

The TV channel had a phone line that you could call to vote for an encore. Mark was probably already home by the time they announced the winner 😂

Edit: here’s the full video in great quality. 18:22-18:37 goosebumps

Devil baby was played on several occasions during promo tours and a couple of times in 2008 too. Why they dropped it from the set is a mystery to me. Same as Daddy's gone to Knoxville for instance. It was probably to play an extended version of Marbletown.  ;D

MK has so many great songs in his catalogue that could have been played on stage over the years and which will never be. It's why any surprise is usually very welcome by his audience. During his solo years, I'm thinking of stuff like Vic and Ray, Water of love, Are we in trouble now, The long highway, Junkie Doll, Back to Tupelo (fantastic), On every street or Once upon a time in the west more recently.

I have always thought that the concerts in 2008, particularly Amsterdam, were showcases for the Ragpicker's tour which didn't happen due to MK's accident.  There were more songs played from Ragpicker's than KTGC in those first two concerts in Amsterdam - Marbletown, Devil Baby, Daddy's Gone to Knoxville,Hillfarmer's Blues and Why Aye Man, for example and only TLWNF and The Fish and the Bird from KTGC.

Ktgc had some great songs that would had worked well live, like Let It All Go, Punish the Monkey or even my favorite Madame Geneva. In 2019 we discovered that, also a favorite of mine, Heart Full of Holes could work well live despite being so long with so much lyrics, which is the reason I always thought it won't work well live!
