A Norwegian tribute to Dire Straits
« on: September 12, 2021, 02:47:34 PM »
Hi all :)

Been years since I last posted anything on this forum - but I figured I wanted to share a little bit of what I’ve been up to since the pandemic hit us.

The band I’m playing in decided that we would use the lockdown to rehearse songs by Dire Straits, and if possible due to the pandemic, perform them at a festival we where going to play in august this year. We was supposed to play the festival with another lineup but when we asked the folks behind the festival if we could do it, they thought it was a good idea. So we did. We played 50 minutes for about 300-400 people. For a DS fan since I was about 13 years old this was a night I won’t forget. I’m the one singing and playing lead guitar.

If you want you can watch a couple of the songs here on our Facebook site. I leave a couple of links below.

Our version of Romeo And Juliet:
https://fb.watch/7ZHWmXmFO9/

Our version of Money For Nothing:
https://fb.watch/7ZHTNz5R1M/

More videos will come soon. We also played Calling Elvis, Walk Of Life. Single Handed Sailor, Sultans Of Swing and Telegraph Road.

Hope you like it!

Tobben

Hello Tobben

I liked it very much and above all I wanted to let you know that your vocals and singing is really very very good and fits totally with the style and mood of MK. Also a very mature and cool stage presence from all the band. Very good. Thanks for sharing. Carry on!

Love the sound......

What I love about this singer is that he sings with his own voice instead of going "let's try to sing like Mark" and without classic tricks such as making the voice lower than it really is and those "voice drops" on lines which I absolutely hate cover bands doing. Be as natural as possible, that's the way you do it. That's how Mark did it, actually.
