Hello Harry. Yes you are right with your opinion in vintage vinyl records.
I also own thausands of vinyls-, LP-Albums, Singles, Maxi-Singles, 78-rpm-records from 1896 upwards, and some Edison-cylinders, too. It is also very thrilling to me, to play such old records, which are more than 100 years old.
The old mono-records by The Shadows, are brilliant produced and they are sounding excellent on todays hi-fi-systems. From the 1950s on the vinyl-record-technology was on an high level.
But back to the MK and DS Vinyl-stuff. I own the vintage DS records in various versions, UK, Germany, USA, Japan and some exotic countries. But that is another obsession by myself and for my private collection.
The rate of mistakes in producing a vinyl-record was very high in the past by GZ-Media pressing-plant. The records were faulty produced, with some mistakes, like warps, scratches, bad centered records and so on. But today, they have learned from the past, and the rate of production-mistakes is getting lower. To my opinion the records from the 1950- 1980 are most well produced ones.
