Yeah, that Box is fine. All records are well pressed and very goodsounding. That´s my current experience with it on my  hi-fi-systems. Also nice are the record-cover-artprints with embossed print.
Well done GZ-Media. GZ-Media is getting better and better in the present days. In the past they produced many faulty records, but, the company had learnt to produce pristine records, now. GZ-Media was in negative criticism in the past by the vinyl-collectors community. The BOX-Set is worth to own it.  :thumbsup

Well that's GH listened to and although this album was never meant to be on Vinyl I'm so thrilled to have it on Vinyl. From the opening phrase of 'Darling Pretty' which brought tears to my eyes to the fading solo notes from MK on 'Are we in trouble now' it's been a listening sensation. I maybe right in thinking I'm hearing certain instrument parts you cannot distinguish on the CD or digital copies? Dusty? All in all the MK Solo Album box set 1996-2007 journey has well and truly begun and I'm loving it!

When you are making music you give a great deal of thought about the medium that it will be heard on.

For example, in the early to late60s, The Beatles would have concerned themselves with how their music would sound on a mono record.

By 1996 MK and his associates would assume that most people would hear on CD, and they would be correct, and they would master their music accordingly.

Yes, quite agree! Take for example The Shadows they recorded their early 60 records in Mono same as like say The Beatles as Dusty has mentioned. To the present day and with recording equipment having moved on as it were we can safely say that recording an album such as DTRW can be used on all sources - Vinyl, CD & Download

Of course from the early 00s Vinyl started to make a comeback thus RD was the first MK solo Vinyl record....albeit limited edition

That's good. The downloads which came with the Vinyl box set (via a code) are really good too...

Just thought it right to mention a nice piece of customer services from MarkKnopfler.com. When I received my LP box set from them I was relieved to find that my box and albums were, on the whole, undamaged, well pressed and sounding very good.

However I have say 'on the whole' as an otherwise great set was spoilt by two deep and parallel gouges on one side of Shangri-la rendering it unplayable. Whilst it was clearly a manufacturing fault rather than theirs, I immediately reported it to MarkKnopfler.com. They asked me to leave the issue with them which I did. It took a little while for them to find a solution but to their credit they persevered and a few days ago forwarded me a new replacement album. All through communication was friendly, polite and helpful.

All to often folks are (rightly) quick to complain of when they get bad service from retailers, but not always to praise when it's good. So, just wanted to say that MarkKnopfler.com did right by me and I'm chuffed. I also now have the full box set that I originally wanted   :) Thanks guys!

I have no other connections with MarkKnopfler.com by the way, just very happy with their service on this occasion.
