done.
but where did guy say it cost 100k?

Most likely it was 10k, but, according to David, that's what the guests had to pay. Surely, the artists didn't have to pay for that, but for transportation and accomodation.

Even though Mark and David speak with each other, I still think it's nice they said what they said.

Can we at least all agree on one thing? That the so called Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a pile of shite?

From what Guy said I understood that the people who organized the event were shit, and the people from the RARHOF were very kind with them. and treat them the way is meant to be.

I think it's out of context, Mark said to his manager that if David would not go, so his manager should not worry about organizing everything. I think it was more a question of management and not a personal remark. I think there is a 100% possibility that they talk or email each other because I can't imagine how arrogant one can be to dismiss his brother after all they went through last 2 or 3 years. I just can't imagine that.

you do not like your hero to be an arsehole, but maybe he just is,...towards his brother.
not saying he is, just saying there is no proof in that interview to show they actually talk.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Ignoring your brother isn't necessarily being an arsehole.

None of us have any idea what David has said or done to Mark that has caused them to fall out.

Anyhoo, this whole thing was a complete shambles. Remember when John had to give his own speech because they couldn't find anyone to induct the band? LOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL

Yes, it's a huge topic on its own... Of course, you can't choose your brother, and if he makes something you don't love or straight-up hate, it's okay to cut ties in my book. However, from far away it does not seem to be so severe in the case of the Knopfler brothers. History shows that Mark dismisses a lot of people, but usually for more or less solid reasons. This "war" between brothers is going on for years and I don't think that it's only Mark not loving David's music or David hating Mark for "sacking" him 40 years ago. There must be a more bold reason, insult, jealousy, or other types of conflict going on. But, as Dusty would say, it's not my business. But it certainly worth discussing.

I listened to Everybody Pays the other day for the first time in a long time. I still think that is about DK.

David comes across as a lot more understanding and forgiving regarding Mark's "dictatorial" behavior in the early days, saying they were all young and inexperienced, etc.

Well, that's what David said, and I guess that they realised that if they wanted someone from DS, after losing the Knopfler brothers, they would had to pay for the rest, as Pick also refused to go...

For me it's all to little, to late, they have given an award to a band that has not been active for 26 years, which is when the On Every Street tour ended, the rule state they are eligible for the RRHOL 25 years after their first record, that being Sultans of Swing in 1978 so, they were eligible from 2003 that would still have been 10 years since the On Every Street tour ended, if the band was still an on going concern, then I would have expected Mark, and possibly David and Pick to have attended, but so long after a band has ended, is there really any point? Does Dire Straits need to be inducted to be in the history of music, no, so, frankly, who cares? I don't, but if John, Guy and Alan do care, I am happy for them.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Something doesn't add up here.

David surely would have gone if they paid for his hotel and flights.

I bet it's what I said, after Pick, David and Mark said no, they realised they must pay for the remaining if they wanted any DS to be inducted at the ceremony!
