Collecting exotic Dire Straits-Mark Knopfler Vinyl

Hello Pottel. Thank you.
I collect all different Dire Straits items i can get. LPs, Singles, Maxis, CD-Albums, CD-Singles, Videos, Posters, Stickers, Press-Kits from Musicjournalists, original Publicity-Photos or slides, Posters and Signs from record-stores, Bootleg-Vinyls, Bootleg-CDs, Promos on Vinyl and CD, Radioshows on Vinyl and CDs, Testpressings, original Award-Discs Golden and Platinum-Discs, and so on. I feel to be like a Dire Straits Archäologist. It is fascinating to get some of these exotic records.
And, of course, i also have still some gaps in the different collecting-fields.

This item can also be classified as a collection of it´s own.
I´m a proud owner of a Golden-Disc-Award of the Brothers in arms Album from GREECE. Presented to Ed Bicknell for 50.000 sold albums in Greece. Presented through the IFPI. There are also Awards by BPI(British Phonographic Industry), RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) and other copyright organisations.
That is a special field, because it is not easy to get genuine Award-Discs. I´m very very glad to have six of those Awards in my collection, from various countries. In case of collecting US-Awards by RIAA, be aware of falsifications, FAKEs, because many collectors want the US-RIAA-Awards. To me it is not so important to have all US-RIAA, i´m also interested in other countries.

Here i have Guy Fletchers Platinum-Award for the OES-Album. Double-Platin-Award by BPI, Brit-Award for the sale of 600.000 copies of OES in UK.

Another Gold-Award from BRAZIL for the Money for nothing-LP-Album. Presented to Dire Straits for the sale of 100.000 Albums in Brazil in 1989.

A Platinum-Award from NEW ZEALAND, presented to Dire Straits for the successful sale of First Album in NZ.

Here are my last two Awards.
Dire Straits - On Every Street USA-Platinum-RIAA-Award for the sale of 1.000.000 copies of OES in the USA. Presented as so called "In House-Award" to a big Record-Store in Maryland named Record and Tape-Traders.
There are different Award-Types: First: Presented to the Star, the Band, or other personalized for each musician, just see my Guy Fletcher award, to the Producers, Managers. Second: Presented to Record companies, Publishers, or Radio-Stations (mostly in the US) that are the so called In House-Awards.
Dire Straits - Money for nothing Single-Silver-Disc-Award, presented to Phonogram Limited (the Recordcompany) for the sale of 250.000 copies of the single MFN in UK in 1986, BPI-Award, (British Phonographic Industries).

On the WWW you will find a very valid site by an American Award-Expert on the subject of the RIAA-Awards from the past to the present. He explaines exactly the features of an genuine RIAA-Award, the changing RIAA-logos, the time-periods, and of course, the features to detect a falsification. Very interesting to read and to know, especially for the RIAA-Award-Collectors.

Wow, yes indeed a cool collection. Absolutely amazing. But he should keep and store his vinyl-discs in a much better way in his shelfs.

Dire Straits - Love over Gold LP-Album from SINGAPORE/MALAYSIA/HONG KONG. Pressed with the legendary old-style Vertigo-Swirl-Label.
Just arrived in my DS MK-Collection.

Here we have another TAIWAN-issue of the BIA LP-Album, but with a slightly different cover. Here are some inscriptions in taiwanese language and the dates of 1985 and 1986. Possibly a second edition from around 1986. I have three different TAIWAN-issues of that album.
First Edition: Vertigo-Taiwan Swirl-styled-labels and thick cardboard-covers, similar like the old US-LPs
Second Edition: New Jen Sheng-Label, and a thin paper-cover folded into a thin plastic-foil
Third Edition: New Jen Sheng-Label, and a folded thin paper cover without plastic-foil and with the additional taiwanese inscriptions.
