The quality of the concert is great. Better than DVD.

The sound certainly seems very good on this, doesn't it.

Whilst watching it with my 8 year old boy he said MK is like an oak tree. I wasn’t sure where he was going, but he said an oak tree has a whole eco system that depends on it and he thought the band was the eco system relying on MK at the centre of the music.

Children never lie! That's a 100% correct observation that stands to this day.

I love this concert, I don't see any evidence of Mark being drunk or tired, as it was the start of a new tour and career for him, he would be fine, he was a lot younger and fitter back then, when he talks during this show, there is no hint of him being anything else than sober. All the performances are great, the beautiful guitar work of Golden Heart, the moody Rudiger, the great Sonny Landreth contributions, the Last Exit To Brooklyn into Romeo & Juliet highlighting The Electra Strings, the wonderful outro to Are We In Trouble Now, and the rarely played Gravy Train. Fantastic stuff from a fantastic album. When I first heard Mark was done with Dire Straits and going solo, I was really intrigued to hear what that would sound like, but when I first heard the first song, Darling Pretty, all my worried went away, I knew Mark would be fine, and 25 years later, he still is.

Very well said. :clap I feel the same!
This is all the heaven we've got, right here where we are in our Shangri-La.

Can't believe my 1996 VHS outshines a 2021 1080p YouTube stream because the latter lacks the complete experience.

This was for me still his best solo tour.
A lot of songs of GH, even outtakes Long Highway and Gravy Train were played, some film stuff which we have heard live and never been played live anymore afterwards mixed with some DS classics.

It’s a weird one this but I think Mark looks fresher and younger with very little hair 25 years later than he does in this show.

Good show and quite funny how you can see the Irish musicians just waiting around behind the drums when they’re not playing. Clearly no backstage area in the studio!

He really doesn’t.

I agree that ANIL is a flat performance but there’s no way he looked better in 2019. He’s an old man now and looks it.

I also agree.

The show I saw in Aberdeen had tracks from every DS album and lots of new material.

Pushing three hours as well! Mark was back in love with music after the slog that was the OES tour and it was a joy to witness.

Three hours is a perfect duration for a show. You can do some encores, play a lot of songs and make everyone happy. I think 2 hours, of which 30 minutes is just Telegraph Road and Marbletown, and 2-hour shows, in general, is criminal. Especially considering outrageous prices for shows nowadays! Even standard rehearsal time in studios is usually 3 hours, that's a perfect number. Paul McCartney and John Lennon would write songs in 3-hour sessions every day and finish one song in each.
