But keep in mind that labels, marketing teams, and parties like this may not have everything in their archives. Mark's archive seems to be very small anyway and he's never been known as a guy who keeps everything. This man doesn't even bother to keep technical aspects of amps and settings, other people do it for him. Thanks to Guy Fletcher we know at least something about recordings at all. And I bet things like master recordings and tracks for older albums are completely gone now.
That means that Mark's team, a brilliant team, I must say, just make do with what they have. So I suspect that the really full concert is only on VHS now, so that means you can either upload the whole concert transferred from VHS or interrupt the official one with some VHS footage. I don't think that's a very good idea.
By the way, the collectors could help with the research of these things, but you know the collectors, they don't want to cooperate that much. So all in all, Mark's official channel is probably the single greatest evidence of the man's character. Because the same team runs, for instance, James Taylor's channel and he's there talking about guitars, music, and such, and Mark never really "appeared" on his channel. It's only official interviews and music, and he doesn't care about everything else. Including, it seems, "the forgotten stuff".
Well, I don't know how it works in the inside so I couldn't really tell but, for what it's worth, I don't agree. I think that the Management -- whoever they are -- have everything in their possession. It's just about what they want to do with it even if Mark, as ever, has the last word in all I guess.
But at least they should ask him if they don't. My impression is that they don't really give a sh** as long as they "use" (understand market or promote) Mark's name. And Mark himself doesn't seem to be very interested in releasing what he has in his pipeline.
With the internet, you can offer A LOT of things to fans, whether charged or for free, that's not my point.
A list (or whatever…) of unreleased material exists, probably from the early days till now. And probably, this catalog is huge. Shows have been recorded, filmed etc. Why doing this if not for 1/ your own recollection as an artist and 2/ for your fans?
So no, really I don't get it. I'm not sure that such a demand will still exist 50 years from now, so why waiting?
I'm not saying that broadcasting that little concert is sh** cause it's a pretty good idea but for God's sake, offer something that hasn't been already seen a million times by your fans!
