2) I think David Gilmour would kill himself rather playing and touring with a kemper, it's just complete nonsense, unless you like crap sounds

Saying that Kempers generally sound like crap is ridiculous, sorry.
This bashing of digital technology is getting tedious. It's like those people who think they need 24/192 downloads and they could hear all the differences.
I bet most of the people - even trained musicians and engineers - couldn't tell the difference between a good Kemper profile and a recorded tube amp, especially on a recording (provided the profiles have been decently created).
Even modelling (not profiling) has become so refined that it is hard to tell from the real deal. You would be astonished on how many recordings this kind of technology has been used now.

If you don't like the sounds MK get with his Kemper, it has something to do with the profiling and personal tastes - but not the capabilities of the Kemper.

Personally I don't like the sound of the Texas Specials in his Signature Strat. When he started using this with "retro" amps, it just sounded to harsh and edgy to my ears.
I'd rather have the smooth sound of the 90's or the bell like sound of DS albums with a lot of compression.
But does that mean that his Komet or Tone King amps sound bad? Of course not.

I don't like the sound David Gilmour created with his Black Strat and his amps on the last tour. I prefer his red Strat with EMG pickups soundwise.
That doesn't mean his equipment is bad - it is just another sound you like or dislike.

I'm sad that his guitar playing has suffered a lot over the last years - comparing 2019 with 2005 live concerts for example makes me cringe - but this nothing to do with the Kemper amps.

BTW:
Just listen to that sound in the video:

It is the great Anto Drennan with a Boss Katana amp which is basically a practice amp. Does that sound bad? I don't think so.

if you are an amateur musician I am sure the kemper can sound to your ears exactly like the real thing,
just like when you play a MK solo with your guitar and you think it's 100% perfect while there are 100000 errors

even Guy Fletcher and Marcus Cliffe (the guy who originally showed the kemper to MK) wrote several times
it does NOT sound like the real thing

Since now we know that a Kemper was used on DTRW, tell us then on which tracks they used a Kemper.

Again: what is the "real thing"? The sound of MK has changed significantly over the years and his Tone King with a Strat sounds completely different than e.g. his Pensa Suhr with an overdriven Soldano amp.
When I listen to some recordings I think that his sound is much too grainy and scratchy nowadays - because of the pickups / amp combination. I'd prefer a good modeling to these sounds anytime.

The reason why I have been avoiding modelling for many years was not only the sound (which is getting more and more perfect) - but the feeling while playing. You always had a latency and a feeling you were not realy connected - if that makes any sense.
Even this has been improved so much, that modelling / profiling is now at a point where even professional musicians use these amps - not just amateurs. It is all over the world on literally thousands of records by renowned musicians.
The great Jerry Donahue even used a Morley JD10 Jerry Donahue Amp Emulator extensively - which is a very basic tool. And he always sounded really good.

Is the "real thing" also a cheap chinese tube amp for $200 - just because it has valves?
Does that compare to a Two Rock for $3000 or a Dumble for $50.000? Certainly not.

It is no rocket science to emulate a one channel amp with such a basic layout like the early amps have and MK uses.

The magic comes from his fingers.

no play on words please... the real thing is the real tube amp the kemper is trying to simulate, if you can't hear any difference you are an amateur and there's nothing wrong with being an amateur, end of story

the sound of an album through an hifi and a live sound in a concert are extremely different dynamically,
1000 times easier to simulate a real amp for a studio album

it's like asking to recognize a les paul in a certain position which sounds 99% like a blue pensa which sounds 99% like a don grosh, you can hear a huge difference live while in a studio album it's 99% the same

I even suspect that MK likes the sound of the kemper so much because he plays live through his in-ears monitors,
so he actually hears a difference of quality which is much smaller than what the audience hears unfortunately

So you're seriously trying to say that the live audience in a 10.000 seat arena with notoriously bad sound is able to distinguish between a real tube amp (which also goes through some processing stages) and a profiling amp over a PA system?
You must be kidding.

BTW I didn't use any wordplay - I was just asking questions you didn't care to answer.
And: I know that I am an amateur - but you obviously think you are a professional just because you think you can tell the a Kemper sounds crappy.
Who should take that seriously?

I answered what the real thing is, the amps MK is trying to simulate, so obviously chinese amps are not involved in the discussion, is that the very important question I didn't answer ?

I never wrote the whole audience will be able to hear the kemper lower quality

I am 'professional' only because I was so stupid to play 10 hours every day for a very long time,
I know very well what I am talking about and we are simply talking about very basic things,
and btw I am probably the most stupid person in the world, only a very stupid person can ruin his whole life at 18 yo like I did,
so I am not here to boast anything, I am here just to have a normal discussion in a forum

If you're a professional only because you used to play for hours on end trying to copy MK - then believe it.
I'm just too stupid to understand the "very basic things" then.

If that's a normal discussion for you to ridicule others with different opinions and write condescending posts - then so be it.
I'm rather getting the impression you are kind of frustrated and need to let it out, but this is nothing new.

End of story - as you like to put it.

I am not interested in discussing with a guy who thinks the kemper is perfect, believe what you want, it's more than normal to have different views

I am extremely frustrated for obvious reasons but that has nothing to do it with my comments, infact I never attacked you I just think you are wrong about the kemper, is that such a big problem ? I don't think so, so relax man

I think the fact that a guy with 40 years of touring and recording experience, having one of the best recording studios in the whole world, who played everything through everything, and still he trusts a $2,000 (not cheap by any means by the way) profiling amp speaks more than words. Nobody's put a gun at his head saying "play this or else we'll kill your dog". Realising that Mark played this was a surprise for me, not gonna lie, but it would certainly fool me.

Play nice guys.

Arguing over tone and equipment - acceptable.

Personal attacks - unacceptable.

Lewis Hamilton used a Fiat 500 few days ago, it must be a supercar, right ?

More like Tesla, if you want an automotive analogy. Still takes you 2.5 seconds from 0 to 60, but does it “differently” and not warm and analog enough for purists and car enthusiasts.

you wrote that if MK uses a thing automatically it must be perfect or great

if this is the level of the discussion there's nothing to be added
