Mark played a lot of The Everly Brothers songs in his broadcast, and I want to share a great album of covers done by unexpected duo: Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones.

This one, Oh So Many Years, is so good I actually like it more than the original:

Here's my absolute favourite version of The Long And Winding Road from the rehearsals of Parkinson Show with Paul McCartney (the actual version from the show broadcast not as beautiful). Only Macca and a piano, it doesn't get better than this!

Speaking of stripped down versions, I never was a fan of "wall of sound" approach, because while it can sound lush, it beats the life out of music, and any version beyond that sound more full and live. Like this version of one of the best songs ever written, Bridge over Troubled Water, with only Art Garfunkel's voice and a piano — it doesn't get better thant this either.

Something that has nothing to do with MK or any genre linked to MK. Just what I happen to be listening to now. I didn't even know Deep Purple still existed as a band, much less that they're still releasing new albums. I have to say their new album just released earlier this month is very good. Here's a track from it.

New Fleet Foxes album, "Shore", is out TOMORROW. Wow.

Also, coming soon albums from Melody Gardot feat. Sting, new Elvis Costello album, some pretty cool stuff are on its way.

Speaking of Fleet Foxes, I suspect the group now undergoes almost the same type of thing that happened to Dire Straits in terms of it's not a group per se, but a solo project of Robin Pecknold with a name and EVERYBODY knows that he's the ultimate leader of the project, and yet it's still "a band". Even the way Robin outlined all the thank you notes on the album screams that it's his solo project. But anyway, it always funny to me that stuff like that still goes through as a band record.

Melody Gardot & Sting - Little Something

Very nice song.
I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

Not new but still great listening. The song is from the 2003 album "Chutes Too Narrow".

Fantastic and emotional guitar playing from Mike Oldfield:

Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Yeah, great band! Probably my biggest find thanks to Mark is the band Yo La Tengo. What a fantastic 2000 album, so many great songs!

I wish I would find this album when I was a little kid, and not 20 years later... But Mark probably thinks the same.
