Mandela 88 in perfect quality

Lately came to my hands a very special file, more than 2 hours of footage restored by BBC of the Mandela concert with BIA and Wonderful Tonight. After editing with the best sound I found (Looseless from the Laserdisc), I have published both on Facebook. YouTube doesn't allow that. It is also in Knopflertk Unlimited in full quality.

Was something I have dreamed of, and finally comes to reality.

As an interesting side story to this nice find by Binone, I tried to also upload the BIA Remastered version, and it came back as copyrighted by the BBC under the name "One Humanity", so they seem to have copyrighted Mark's intro??

The official BIA from the laserdisc has a superb sound quality but unfortunately it was
edited on the laserdisc by a total idiot who edited 2 notes of the final solo making them disappear,
I guess because he thought they were an error by MK since they are out of the main key (while actually they are intentional),
and not happy enough he also added some crowd noise just after the very end of the guitar solo (song not ended)
which is extremely artificial and annoying.

Would be interested in the background to the BBC restoration, did they upgrade the sound as well as the image? Do you know if they intend to broadcast ?

I still find it totally crazy there is no official release of the whole set of this concert. It's great fans put in the hard work to restore but it would be great to have the whole thing direct from source , 2LP heavy vinyl edition would be ideal ! !

To my knowledge, it was a restoration done in 2013-2014 by the BBC, close to the official release in VHS and LS (different order, some songs cut at different times (BIA), of about 2h 15m, probably never broadcasted on BBC, prior to a documentary (One Humanity) made with some footage of this restored copy in 2014. The restored tv program was broadcasted by a french sat TV (Ô) in 2016. For the sound, they use the mix made for the VHS and LD release. and BBC defend the rights of these images in youtube, baning BIA, but not Wonderful Tonight.
