Chapter One : How I blew the family radio 

Well, in written form this story might actually be amazing and interesting. You see, when Mark usually tells the infamous radio story, that's usually a one-minute short monologue, so he can't come up with anything really new on the spot. In the book, however, that story can really become a whole chapter. Even in this radio broadcast, Mark gives himself more freedom, than on usual stupid interviews with stupid questions, I mean that Mark works better alone when it comes to telling stories. I know people who need the link between them and the story, and they are great storytellers, but not everyone is a good one-man-band storyteller. And I think that Mark is one of them.

I imagine his book of stories be something like "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!", which is merely a collection of stories from a genius theoretical physicist. After reading that book and other books by Feynman you feel like you knew the man in person. I want something like this from Mr. MK and not only I think he's capable of doing that, but to a certain extent, I think he's gonna actually do that. I hope that the radio show is a good start in this direction.

Oh, that’s a good point, that would add so much to the value of that book. I can bet this idea was discussed between them, it can’t be that it wasn’t discussed at some point. A talented writer, the wife of the accomplished musician writing a book about him that’s a guaranteed success. I know Mark said he can’t write prose, but I believe he was talking about fiction. Autobiography, however, is non-fiction. Let’s dream. The obvious fact is that he has the urge to tell the stories of his life to the broad audience.

Mark said there are many versions of Some Enchanted Evening, and that's true. I recommend the version by Frank Sinatra, not the popular one, but rather this. The duet with Rosemary Clooney. This is probably the most beautiful version of the tune that ever existed. This YouTube version is not so good in quality for some reason, just find it somewhere else.

It's a very impressive live performance by Jeff Beck, basically a bluesy piece. Contemporary blues sounds like that, that's not B.B. King for sure, but not bad!

Johhny Has Gone For A Soldier is far stranger to me, especially this lonely beat in the outro

That's not broad musical taste, broad musical taste is then you jump from The Beatles to Slipknot, and then from Mark Knopfler to Marilyn Manson, and top that with some avant-garde jazz and contemporary classical albums, and then enjoy some rap and drum and bass, plus obscure traditional songs of Russia and other second world countries, that's broad. Stupid, but broad Mark plays good songs, I won't say that the spectrum is extremely wide, but he did play experimental jazz and some pop numbers, as well as The Roots and surprising tracks like If That's Your Boyfriend (He Wasn't Last Night). But all in the bluesy-folky-funky end of the spectrum, with elements that can certainly appeal to people who loves MK's music. So far, not a single track would stand out like a sore thumb in the playlist, it's consistent. With some songs, pay attention when Mark says that it's from a particular album. For instance, Johhny Has Gone For A Soldier is from a collection of 32 civil war songs, and in the context of that album, it sounds great.
