The following songs made me feel very good  ;) when I listend to them.

Ray Bonneville - Oxford Town
Wish Mark would do a cover sometime
Dirk Powell - Say Darling Say
Tim O'Brien - Red Dog in the Morning
Bobbie Gentry - Eleanor Rigby
Sarah Jarosz, Ring Them Bells

I also liked Weyes Blood - Movies
If there was not a female singer, you might think that this song was by the British rockband The Muse.
Fantastic song.

I love the story about Bobbie Gentry going completely off stage. If you think about it, this might be probably the hardest thing to do for a man. You have everything, money, fame, success, and then you just leave it all alone. That takes tremendous willpower, but in the long run, saves you from dying poor or in obscurity, or with people laughing at you, or forgetting you. The ultimate form of leaving early is probably The 27 Club. Imagine we'd now have 77-year-old Jim Morrison :lol But he's the legend instead. I respect each man and woman who can quit with dignity. Because only time will tell who is who anyway.

Reading your message the song „Will you catch a falling star“ written by Boddy Braddock came to my mind immediately.
You are absolutely right. I also have the biggest respect for everyone who manages to find the right time to take this step back.
To make this decision sure is very hard, but otherwise you could end up like this person in the song.

Here are the lyrics
Would You Catch A Falling Star

You know the crowd was very small for a country music show
But he faked a curtain call just like it was years ago
And then a lady grabbed his arm as he staggered down the aisle
And with all his country charm he addressed her with a smile.
Would you catch a fallen star before he crashes to the ground
Don't you know how people are nobody loves you when you're down
Pick me up and take me home and I'll bring my old guitar
Sing a golden oldie song if you'll catch a fallen star.

He had a silver plated bus and a million country fans
Now there's just a few of us and he drives a little van
And they were beatin' down his door the lovely women left and right
And now he's on a hardwood floor a wonderin' where he'll spend the night
Would you catch a fallen star before he crashes to the ground
Don't you know how people are nobody loves you when you're down
Pick me up and take me home and I'll bring my old guitar
Sing a golden oldie song if you'll catch a fallen star
Sing a golden country song if you'll catch a fallen star.

I only know the version by John Anderson. But there might be other artist having recorded this song, also.

Mark clearly admires Bobbie Gentry for walking away from it all.
To be honest, I had to Google her to see that she was still alive. I assumed that she was dead.

Tamikrest
Tisnant An Chatma

Listening to the whole album now. SO GOOD! The guitar playing has a lot of "Mark" in it.

This band also made a big
impression on me,  especially the guitar work is amazing. Thanks to Mark we get to know a lot of great music most of us haven't heard before.

Thanks to the man who organized a "British Grove Broadcast" playlist on Spotify, because this service is finally available in Russia and the first thing I did was I added this playlist instantly. The proper playlist is playlist from the user by the name of markknopfler_fanatic, right? The only gripe I have is that it could be better-organized chronologically speaking. Because the first song ever on the show was the one by Fruit Bats, but now it's Thelonius Monk.

UPD: One more request — please, add "The" before the title of the show, it looks like it's missing something that way.

UPDDDD: Also, some versions of the songs are wrong, e.g. A Case Of You by Joni Mitchell is the one with strings, not the regular version.

Check the one by user ABEL LR, it's chronological, but I don't know if it is updated

It's better organized, but not updated and with the same error with versions of the songs. I feel like making my own playlis then :disbelief

I will do that actually when I have more time. It will be 100% accurate, with proper versions and such.

Well, I know I'm fun at parties, but I created a new playlist from scratch, with proper order and proper versions of the songs, except for one (Ray Charles). Enjoy!

Did they air a new episode last wednesday?

When the new episode is out usually they give out a snippet over Mark's social media, and since there was no snippets posted there was no new episode.
