Center post for my DS/MK guitar solos cover attempts
« on: February 19, 2020, 02:05:59 PM »
Hi!

My name is Paulo and I'm from Brazil. During the last half of the 2019, after a lifetime of lame guitar playing as a hobby, I've finally managed to get the necessary discipline to start learning some of Mark's finest guitar solos the right way (or almost that).

My goal this year is to form a cover band, so I'm taking one song at time from a list of songs I intend to play live.

I record this clips both as a reminder to myself of how I did it and also for others who intend to see how it can be done, as well as for other most experienced players to help me improving on any front.

Thanks for watching!

I've recorded a new test tone for my Telegraph Road project on my new Zoom G5n.

I reckon it's much better than my last attempt using the iRig HD 2 (already sold it) in Amplitube 4.

This time I've made sure that all stomp boxes added to the chain had no volume increase relatively to the bypassed sound of my guitar.

I also tried to add a minimum drive to the sound so it would not distort it that much. That way I could still hear clean notes when played separately and have some distortion when playing 2 or 3 notes like Knopfler does.

It's worth mentioning that I used a proper AKG monitor headphone this time.

Finally, I also improved the playing of some parts. It's still not perfect, but it's getting there little by little. It's difficult to find spare time to practice since I'm on a full time job as an engineer.

Please listen to this on a good system or a good headphone.

P.S.: there are some playing errors here. I was tired of trying different tone settings and lost my focus here and there.

I'm really enjoying this Zoom G5n.

I reckon it's my best tone to this date for this song. Endless possibilities with this pedal.

I'll try different amps and cabinets, but I'm fairly satisfied with the tone from the Fender Twin Reverb.

Please listen to this on a good system or a good headphone.

Unless they recently changed, Youtube is overly compressing with loss anything that is sound heaven even in HD video.

Edit : 128kbps AAC for standard user, Premium subscribers can also select the High quality, which streams at 256 kbps AAC.

You're right. Nevertheless, a good system has a better frequency response, so it will be more faithful still. Some systems tend to favor certain frequencies.

Now, with a Hotone Ampero (my newly bought pedal board). What a little beast this Ampero is!
