Do not bother Knopfler's son with such questions. A)he does not know
B) If he would happen to know he would NEVER tell some random fan.
Pls do not disturb the family

The best way to deal with this is to use some simple empathy... Ask yourself, "Do I really know (or even care) about my father's life?".

Most of us would probably answer "No, I don't". I don't know much about my father's life and business, so asking me have no purpose.

Even if your father is Mark Knopfler, it doesn't mean you're suddenly an expert in Dire Straits. Probably means the opposite lol  :lol

I didn't call him stupid. I said that idea is stupid despite which age you are.

As said before, if someone ask any of us about our father work specially when you were a child or you were not even born, we would say "come on, really?"

I remember some Italian folks asking Guy Fletcher's son outside the rah about his father contribution on the film score of Cal. His face was a poem, he didn't had the faintest idea of what those Italians were talking about, until I say to him: they are asking you about something your father did before you were even born... He smiled at me and say "my God... They didn't notice I wasn't even born in 1983?“

That was something very stupid to be said to him, same if any bother Benji or any other MK relatives specially if they were not even born or too young to just miss their father when on tour.

I'm not calling them stupid. I'm calling stupid to do that.

Actually, anyone can check that everyday, when Benji or Issy post whatever in their social media, they get too much answers of MK fans saying all type of stupid things. Things like "say HI to your father" or "your father is the best" always amazed me. I always wondered why they don't blocked them.

Is really necessary to behave that way?

He play drums on a heavy rock band, she's an actress. They post on their social media about what they do, and they get answers saying hi to his father. Come on...

I spoke to Ben many years ago on MySpace and he was surprisingly receptive and open to talk about his own band. As soon as I stepped into MK/DS territory he dropped out the conversation and never replied again.

    • Here some occasionally resonable music..

That doesn't surprise me really (not having a go at you Eddie).

In many ways we are all in the continual process of escaping from underneath our parents wings. Put yourself in their shoes, they've successfully flown the next, the last thing they probably want to talk about is what guage of strings their Dad used in march 1981!

It often takes a while for children to step out from their fathers shadow, imagine if that shadow was Mark Knopfler!
