My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

Looks like the set has settled down to just the 2 encores now as it reaches the final stages.

IMO, it's better to shorten the show if that means more energy. There's a limit though, obviously he-he

The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another.

In other words: the energy used during Piper can now be transferred to aftershow parties. ;D

Exactly, they can focus in what's important earlier if they stick to their short set.

X amount of energy focused on fewer songs should/could make those songs feel more energetic is what I meant to say.

So if they add one song the rest would sound less good?

I don't know if i should laugh or cry.

Was at Mlps concert last night. Crowd was great! Mark seemed tired and frail (like a lot of the audience. In fact, it was touching to see the effort some folks made to be there, all things considered). Band was great. Highlight for me was Heart Full of Holes. Bittersweet experience knowing this was the last live performance Mlps will see from MK.

When you go to see Mark Knopfler and the highlight of the show is a  song like HFOH then you know it should definitely be the last tour.  Still 18 shows to go.

On that song, as on many others, sings and plays a little guitar. The band is responsible for the dynamics and power. Before, the highlight used to be stuff like TR, where Mark used to let loose and let her rip. Not anymore.

Just my point.  Whatever Mark wants us to think, the main reason people go to see him is to hear him play guitar and not listen to him "sing" songs like this.  This is not Mark Knopfler.  It's okay for padding but that's all it is.  It's certainly no highlight, or at least it shouldn't be.

He plays whatever he wants. At least appreciate that the songs that he does play he enjoys, and we should try to as well. When he plays new notes on a song, I get excited. That's all it takes for me, since I have heard these songs live for months now.
