Nothing is better than "El Macho", a song about me.

How about heavy fuel instead of on every street

Anything is better than OES so how about 'Heavy Up' would be much better in its place. All a dream as it's not going to happen!!

I really like OES!   It's far better than Heavy Fuel or Heavy Up.

I'm afraid Superval, I disagree! Any of the 1992 versions are rather good but the versions these days just don't cut it for me and in fact I do skip the live versions from the current tour downloads...

I have only had the pleasure of hearing it once on this tour and I really enjoyed it in Verona, perhaps even more than Silvertown.   :)

:thumbsup I really like when Mark recites more than sings: and it’s your face I’m looking for on every street...

Agree with you Val - I love OES.  One of the best songs Mark has ever written.  I also agree that these days it isn't played nearly as well as in 1991/92.

I like the melody and lyrics of OES, but the lack of a beat makes it very dull. The outro is kind of cool, but feels pointless in the context of this song. I'd like it a lot if it had beat similar to Nobody's Child.

On Every Street is an iconic and an all-time-dire-straits-masterpiece. The second half with the build-up is essential in terms of the lyrics. It's one of the best recordings, speaking about the album version, and it's very much because of Paul Franklin's contribution that it is so good. Live it is really another story. Neither the 2015 versions weren't good because Nigel just did not nail it nor this year's versions. It's a bad choice to resurrect this song of all things.

And I agree that Heavy Up would be perfect for this band and I think it should replace Postcards From Paraguay as the introduction song. Everybody is soloing so nice on the record, this could be expanded very nicely and make the crowd sing along live.

In 2013 they played Dream Of The Drowned Submariner a couple of times and that one was very nice and would have a much better sax and guitar interaction than On Every Street.

Mmm I foresee a little of “Our Shangri-La” (which I do love) replacing “Piper...” once in a blue moon...

I wasn't comparing OES with the 91/2 version and, of course, it couldn't be as good without Paul Franklin. It was just a change to hear it played live, in front of me, in Verona and also to hear something other than Silvertown, which I already heard at my two other concerts.  All I know is that I enjoyed hearing it very much!   :)

I too was glad to hear it in Glasgow instead of Silvertown and it also brought back memories of my first concert there in 1991 when I heard it.  Circle complete.

I think he's struggling now to play the guitar licks while singing and his fingerpicking isn't as accurate as it used to be at the end either.  A real shame as I still love to hear it, however there are still some decent versions.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not finding the rather lumpy/clumpy intro for Speedway to my taste on some of the versions on this tour.   I feel MK is losing his way some of the time and it's becoming a skipper for me from a few of the concerts, not all thankfully.  A real shame, because Speedway has always been one of the highlights for me.   Some of the 2010 versions were really great in comparison.

To me there's a certain ham-fistedness to his playing now that I find very distracting.
