Thanks for the photos Arthur -   MK didn't look too happy, I think!   :-\

I thought he looked a little grumpy too.

BTW I managed to remember every song that was played last night. The exact order is up on Guy's forum now. No Alzheimer's here! ;D

I am very disapointed about the setlists of the last gigs...

Why is it always the same??

I do hope MK will surprises us next year!

Only two new songs whereas in the 2007 showcases we had a plethora of new material in there, yet on the KtGC tour itself very few songs from the album were performed.  Just goes to show that they are not representative of what's going to be played on tour, mainly due I think to the paucity of rehearsal time they had;  Guy said that Dudley had NEVER performed one of last nights songs before.  Personally I think that's pretty unprofessional and unfair on the audience.

ok, but has anyone complained about Dudley's playing?
if he is a real professional he should be able to get away with it.
it is not like Mark is Bob dylan who often, during the tour plays new songs. or David gilmour who played Syd Barrett songs totally unannounced to his band when playing in Munich in 2006.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

I think it's very professional that Dudley is able to perform songs he has never performed before.  Mark must have complete trust in his expertise and professionalism too!   :)

I agree it would be unfair on the audience if it sounded as if he had never played it before. But I doubt it was that bad.
I agree with Val!

I got the impression that Guy was hinting that may have been the reason (or one of them) why MK wasn't looking relaxed last night.

Also, I think a band should be fully rehearsed so that they all know exactly what they are all doing and not walking on stage nervous not knowing what's going to happen, even if it did go okay.  If it was rehearsed then it would be better perfected with room for improvisation, this is yet more evidence to me that MK is no longer such a perfectionist as he used to be.  Another is when Guy says on his forum that they no longer practice Sultans before the tour.  Maybe they should - it was pretty poor last time out.

I absolutely agree to you, dmg!

My opinion: These "promo" stuff is work that MK is absolutely not interested in. I think he has to do it for record company reasons. So he then uses this
"second hand" band, takes as less effort as possible, plays only two new songs and apart from that standard songs that he played at least 500 times live...
When he starts his "real" tour, it is another thing - because it is his own financial risk. I have the Berlin 2007 gig on DVD but honestly never watch it. The same with the AVO sessions from the same year. His performance on the "promo" tour was not ideal to gain new fans to say it friendly...

;D It is his album promo - isn't it?  Second band? Glen Worf does not live in UK and has own business schedule. There is not reason to visit London to play one or two promo concerts.

Berlin 2007 showcase...  it is great performance, exlcuding some trouble with voice in the begining.

These promo concerts are Mark's choice and I bet he feels way better playing those LIVE gigs with REAL playing than those silly playback TV shows that he used to do before.
I don't believe they haven't rehearsed these new songs. Dudley might not played it in concert before but he surely knew how to play it.
Draad, you were there - could you tell the bass parts on Why Aye Man were off?
