My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

Amazing concert! Brothers in, Piper out. Perfect sound, fantastic mood lightning, nice horns. Best: Once upon a time in the west, Romeo and juliet (best i’ve heard, nice and passionate vocals, good arrangement), Money for nothing, Matchstick man, the lights, the guitar sound and the arrangements. I hope he never stops playing concerts or even doing lagre tours. And the show worked well in a very lagre arena. I sat all the way in the back and high up. Seemed like all had a blast.

Yes, the concert was truly amazing.

I have seen Mark Knopfler many times before and I have never showed up with lower expectations since I had read some of the reviews and some comments in here.

The concert yesterday was among the best if not the best I have seen with Mark Knopfler. His playing was very, very good. He had that timing and feeling that allows him to hit a single note in a way that is so very moving and he really excelled at it. Seeing him play the intro to Money for Nothing with such power was absolutely moving.

The only signs of Mark being older would be that he perhaps leaves a bit more of the soloing to other musicians in the band (best band I have ever seen him playing with). Perhaps his singing is a bit influenced as well. Yesterday his playing was so powerful that even in my least favourite tracks it really moved me. The concert yesterday was a lot better than the concerts I saw during the two previous tours. Absolutely no need to retire if he can continue doing this. Mark and the band deserve huge credits for what they did yesterday.

Speedway up on YT.  Seems the solo is shorter than before with a break when Richard enters.  Not much playing of note in it at all now. The song is becoming very boring and repetitive since it is virtually note for note now.  MFN or BIA would end the show better if he (rightly) isn't playing TR now.

Well, I was there, and it was not boring at all. Just a bit different and with fewer notes. Who cares as long as the show as a whole is great?

Even though Speedway is cleverly constructed, and quite powerful, it's one of Mark's songs that I don't connect with. I think it's because it builds and builds, but doesn't really go anywhere. All tease, no release :D
