Southbound Again
« on: June 02, 2019, 03:53:55 PM »
I always wondered why Mark not sing this verse:

Southbound Again got no money I've got no place to go
That woman's with her lover boy
Never want to see her face no more

 :think

I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home

A great question that triggered some distant memory about several of the songs on the first album having additional verses that were ditched from the final takes. Wasn't there an extra verse in setting me up as well. Something ending with the line 'treat me like a dog in the dirt' or something similar. I'm sure someone on here will recall it better....

Yeah, they were both sung in the demos but as you say, not in the final cut. SMU was given a new arrangement too.  Something to do with space on an LP perhaps?

Could well be. I'll have to dig out those demos, haven't listened to them for years...
