I was in Cologne yesterday too. Overall it was a great show. One of the best MK shows I have seen oder the last 20+ years. From my point of view this band is the best of all his solo tours. Its a great mixture. I could moan abou the set, exspecialy because of the missing of my all time favorie TR. But as is band is so great even the lower part in the middel of the set was very well played and a joy to listen. MK still plays great licks and his singing is better than on the last tour, but my guitar hero has changed to a singer / songwriter and I´m fine with it (I´m surprised by myself by wrtiting this).
I´m looking forward to Oberhausen und wish yo all so much joy as I had yesterday for the comming shows.

MFN is awesome this tour, much better than the slimmed-down version of 2005. That tone is killer, it's so powerful and raw, personally I find it better than during any previous DS or MK tour.

Fantastic!

I have been in Cologne, too.WOW. WHAT A NIGHT! He could play the whole night. I didn't watch the setlist of the previous concerts and I was positively shocked.

His performance was amazing. He sings which so much soul and it seems like he is enjoying every moment. And he repeats in R&J the "you and me babe, how about it" at the end. That shows me that he wants to perform as good as he can.

To his goodbye speech. He said in German that he has to retire, he is very old. But he loves the music too much. The other guys should retire, too. But it would be very difficult to retire, specially with this guys. So let us hope he will change his mind and will play a few concerts again.
THIS SONGS ARE TOO BEAUTIFUL. IT WOULD BE VERY SAD IF THEY WOULDN'T BE PLAYED LIVE AGAIN.

I am a young MK fan so I could only see him at the Privateering and Tracker tour. This concert was by far the best I have seen from him. This was for us fans. I did not expect see so many DS songs and than they played so nice versions of them. It remembered me many times on "On the night" AWESOME! Fantastic that they played BIA. First time I have heard it live. OUATITW was incredible. He can't retire if he stays in this shape. What a beautiful evening.

So pleased you enjoyed the concert, GuitarChris!   :)

Your review is confirmation that we should do exactly what you have done - just go to the show without looking at setlists, having speculations and post mortems, etc and enjoy it as it comes - without any expectations!   I would love to do the same, BUT I don't have the willpower!    ;)

Yes, it was wonderful. You will enjoy your concerts for sure!
It was great not to know what he will play. I was very familiar with the beginning of OUATITW but needed a while to recognize it. Then I thought that can't be true. What a surprise! What a great band. I am very pleased that I could see this great musician (for me by far the best musician of the world) playing with full devotion a wonderful concert.

I think that is one of the advantages of the Kemper, you can tweak the sound until you have exactly the tone you've imagined.  His boutique amps in the past had a great tone, but not for this song.

So it was a descent performance, but not outstanding (to me). This setlist lacks a killer track to make it a suberb show. "All fillers, no killers".

That was exactly my fear looking at the set and listening online regarding the set, but I'll accept it.  I'll always go to see Mark no matter what he plays.  There isn't a decision to be made.

MFN does indeed sound fab this time.  Perhaps the highlight of the show.

Yes we should be happy with current set in terms of opener, classics, surprises etc..

Only thing they should stick to is to have at least Brothers or Telegraph in the set, have worked so far.. skipping both would make me disappointed so hopefully we won't see that  :thumbsup

It was an amazing night.

Highlights for me: Sailing to Philadelphia, Once upon a time in the west, the long intro to Matchstick Man (i have never witnissed him talking so long to the audience, i really loved that), Silvertown Blues, Money for Nothing, Brothers in Arms.

But also a very good Speedway, and i liked the opening with WAM/CBC! It's energetic this way.

I thought he skipped Silvertown when they started Paraguay, i didn't know they switched places in the set now, so i was very happy when Silvertown started!  :D

Next week 2 times RAH! Can't wait!

Maybe Mark could play Tubular Bells next ;)

Incredibly positive reviews!

Bye the way, I have the feeling that Mks physical condition has improved the last days. I think he even lost some of his kilos as compared to the beginning of the tour looking at the cologne videos, but not sure ...

Which is amazing if you take into account what Guy writes about all the great food and drink!

I have said the same elsewhere, and I think it is just down to the fact he is more active every day on tour, plus he might be using eating different food than the rest of the band, Guy hasn't said about what Mark eats, or does.
