I have tickets for the three shows here in Norway and I cant wait to go!

I founded the Norwegian Mark Knopfler Fanclub in 2003 and Mark has been an important part of my life since 1996.

But I dont want to be a part of a forum that consequently are just negative and rude to our hero.
It makes no sense to me.

But not all of us are rude about 'The Master'
We ALL have our affiliation with MK (mine for 35+ years) and so although we have our differences of opinion we are all United with our one objective- Mark Knopfler ....
* Mark Knopfler - NOT just a hobby, but a way of life!

* Owner of Two Fender 'Mark Knopfler' Signature Series Stratocaster's (SE00616 & SE03805) both with signed Fender labels after meeting MK at Bridport, Dorset UK on the 27/09/2013!

No, I dont want to calm down.
You are destroying the concert-threads every single night with all your negative comments. Making fun of Mark and the setlist. Very very sad.

We have been waiting for this tour for 4 years, but you are destroying the excitement of it with all your negative bullshit.

I dont want to be a part of this forum anymore.

Please, delete my account as fast as possible.
concerning that last sentence, no Kay, i will not do that, as LE said, calm down, sleep over it, and if, tomorrow, next week, you still feel annoyed by some of the more negative views here, then you can go ahead and delete your account. it is just music my friend....pls stay.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

MK is important for all of us. It's also an important part of my life. This forum is also important for me. Since a couple of years i'm one of the admins here. I agree with you that there is negative talk, but it's not only negative, is it?  :think

I love the fresh setlist, but i think MK makes 'strange' setlist choices now and then. We can talk about stuff like this on this forum and i'm happy we can. I'm also proud to be an admin of this place.  I really enjoyed the Barcelona concert i attended and i'm looking sooo forward to next monday  ;)

We all love MK - be sure of that.

just 2 songs from an album you are supposed to be touring behind is a bit unusual imo.

I think we know what to expect from the set list at this point. It would be silly if he skips TR for the next dozen shows, and people STILL make a big deal out of it. That said, hero or not: we must be allowed to rate a show lower than 10/10. Everything isn't always "exquisite", and for a die hard fan it isn't ideal having to stay away from forums, youtube and what not because you will be getting almost the exact same show. That said, it's not completely static and I hope he can squeeze in some (more) surprises. His catalogue has lots of good tunes that I would imagine are fairly easy to play if he wants to shake things up a bit. But, it's harder to pull of something like that when you play almost every night. I prefer the Springsteen approach: a few breaks here and there between shows, wicked set list changes, sign requests, and the feeling that whatever he plays is designed for just that audience. Then you don't think of the songs you missed, because there will always be one or two old ones you haven't heard in ages. OUATITW from the first show is a nice example of a surprise that would make something like a missing TR be a minor thing after the show. After all, we've heard TR live before. I wasn't even born when Alchemy was released, and I'm not the only one who was unable to attend DS back then... :)

What a night !
I got 2 new experiences:
1/audio live streaming...
2/I initiated the run of bulls, and was the first one to reach the spot just below MK, where I watched MFN, BIA and GH. That was something.

I love the setlist, I of course would much prefer to have TR, but after all I heard it a lot before, which is not the case of most songs played now. I actually love all live renditions, except NDT and CBC which are skippers.

Talking about NDT, what they did tonight was cruel. When I noticed it was skipped, I was joyful, given false hope that it would be replaced by either something new, or at least Silvertown back.

I fully respect that MK wants to shorten the show sometimes, hey, he gave us 2.10 hours tonight, which is still quite long ! But why on Earth he chooses to skip Silvertown, which is a 18-year overdue jewel that everybody loves and is well played, instead of the dull CBC that nobody would miss, is beyond my comprehension. Any clue anyone ?

Anyway, I look at the bright side of things, and I am still very happy that I have attended Barcelona for TR and SB, and these two french shows for BIA. Next one for me Strasbourg !

PS: I convey a message from ds1984. When he comes back here, he will be very touch on the moaning :)

Quite unique indeed! Set contained more songs from BIA than DTRW! :o

You are throwing the baby out with the bathwater here. Although some are moaning a bit (looking at you dmg), I feel the overall tone is very positive, and it's a lot better than it has been before. I don't find anyone being rude. Some are disappointed. Some criticize. Some poke a bit of fun. But everything is within limits. And I actually find it quite healthy that it is not all blind admiration, as if Mark were a god or something.

Thanks for these Knopflerfan!

Every one of these videos is great!   Loved MFN and BIA is even better than last night - I was enthralled!   As I have previously said, BIA has not been one of my favourites for some time, but after hearing it on the last two shows, I hope it will be played at one of my concerts!     :thumbsup

NDT, SB, CBC ...  :hmm Would you mind spelling out song titles? You're just saving an avarage of 3 seconds per post, while being hugely disrespectful to the lyrical genius of MK. Mark Knopfler, I mean. Thanks!  :wave

I've no problem with putting full song titles, but we have been doing that for well over 10+ years....
