I think it's simpler than that...He wanted to do a last tour and he knew he was not able to play as usual so, first thing, bring sax and trumpet and a percussion full time to fill all the musical gaps and do less efforts, and second, reduce that effort as much as possible but having a competitive set. Once Upon a time, your latest trick, on every street and Romeo and juliet are DS classic tracks, plus some of his classic solo tracks and other things never performed live would do it. I usually have my complaints about the set, but I look at this tour with different eyes. It's the last tour he will give us, and he decided to give us a last despite he's not in the usual shape. So, thanks MK, thanks for one more tour and thanks for the two big surprises. This tour is not one to be measured but to be treasured.
"Sound check was lengthy as we wanted to run a few things we’re not currently playing in the set, to keep them fresh."... is what Guy wrote. Could as well mean songs like Hill Farmer's Blues, Privateering or Marbletown to "keep them fresh". And that could mean that they DO NOT plan to play them during the next shows. I imagine they really still don't know what could be the set list in the second half of the tour. It's like checking expiry dates in your fridge.. LE
Bordeaux being my personal follow up concert after Barcelona, that one provided Mark in better shape than the opening night. And sound quality was FA-BU-LOUS - congrats to the Arkea Arena !

As I understood from the dairy from Guy.Congrats to the Sound Technicians/crew of Mark, the Arena or the people from the (almost every) Arean have nothing to do with it in almost all events
Not sure what the whole hype with BIA in Bordeaux is all about. I hear a standard version, in , admittedly, good sound. Deffo not the best live BIA version in ages. That to me remains the 2001 toronto one sent from my Samsung Galaxy 9+ via tapatalk
