He was just acting

But he's not an actor... Or did I miss something? :lol

Very strange anyway. It's not like he's being overmodest like usual, but stating clear facts like that is just strange. My bet is that he really had no idea, after all we're talking about Mark Knopfler here... Give this man a knighthood and he will only acknowledge it after reading news in a newspaper.

He's not an actor, but he's been in the entertainment business long enough to know how to play along with what's in the script. It's like in the Guitar Stories documentary with John Illsley when they come to the music shop in Newcastle and there's a - totally by accident! - an MK signature Strat, with his signature on it! in the shop window. And Mark goes "Wow, look at that!" As if that wasn't planned.

It's a little corny at times, but it is what it is. I don't mind. At least he tries. I love when does accents, though. I think he's brilliant at it.

With all seriousness, is it true that Mark had no idea he had Tunnel Of Love lyrics written in stone? How come? Or was it just some acting?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure MK knew the lyrics were written in stone....I seem to remember a news story a few years ago when they were "unveiled".
indeed
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

He's not an actor and this was a documentary, so I don't have to tell you what it was.  Naughty Mark!  :o

If acting is what an actor does, and he's not an actor, but he's doing a documentary, then he is pretending in the documentary  ;D :lol

I mean... he knew about the lyrics in the floor, but maybe he thought it would be nicer for the interview with Brian to pretend he didn´t and that was surprised about it...

Actually, MK does that all the time in many interviews. I recall listening to different explanations about songs like "Cannibals" or "Coyote", and I even recall MK saying "I might had said that I was watching the coyote cartoons with my kids, but I wasn't, it was just the idea of pursuing what you want etc etc etc etc", so he kind of recognized he was lying about the inspiration of the song, LOL

Yes, that was LOL funny.  That's certainly a northern thing to say, even in Scotland.  Can't imagine that being said down south.  The things that don't make any sense but terrify the living daylights out of a young kid!  :lol
