No time to develop because the swimming pool is waiting for me -even on hols I can't stay away- but I love his melodies, his lyrics, his voice, his guitarist for a while back in the 80s -or 90s - Sonny Landreth-

where on earth are the brackets signs on a frog keyboard???

Yeah, not sure if this is a FEMALE thread... ;D
but I like him, too..
He was member of "Little Village" in the 90s, and on that record there were some good songs - even when the recording sounded crap - like almost
everything does that includes Ry Cooder, productionwise...  But there was a radio show I had recorded once (on cassette), which was really great!
Phantastic show, cool live versions, there was really smoke up on that stage...

Great memories. And I also love that track "Alone In The Dark". A real horny guitar playing by Mr. Cooder :P

Is there a recording of this? I would love to hear them perform together!

It was great.
I had seen him live twice before, once on his own with a guitar and once with a mate (Lyle Lovett whom I also fell in love with that night), also acoustic. This time he had a band with him, the Combo, comprising of solid bass and drum players (can't remember their names) and a really good guitarist (not bad looking either  ;) ,) Doug Lancio.

They rocked the house. They played in a small club with a capacity of 4 to 500 people (packed). Opening song was  Drive South (which was very appropriate as hubby and I drove 200 miles South for the occasion and we sang this song all the way), followed by perfectly good guitar. I can't remember all the set list but the highlight was Master of Disaster, with a really good guitar solo (in place of the sax on the original).

Some interaction with the crowd during Memphis in the meantime when he sang Men.... and we had to scream phiiiiss.  He said we were not as good as in the town before which got some laughs and a couple of boooos
Very nice and also a bit funny considering that we were in Sweden and in Swedish fis means fart. (well it made me laugh anyway but I do have a mental age of 12)

I really enjoyed the whole gig! And I am so grateful he's coming to Europe regularly !
