The logical says they will be there for the press night, they have to be there. The press would want to ask them questions, take pictures etc

... But they wrote the musical and the first night is the first night. I bet they would be there and they would use the four firsts performances to check everything works and if not, work on it and amend it before the press night.

Both things makes sense to me.

Since MK won't be playing I guess fans are not that interested in the musical than in a MK tour, obviously.

I always saw it as the only chance to see the songs MK wrote for it live, even he's not playing, as an a great addition to the tour.
