New Member Hurlingham Gig
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:09:08 PM »
Hi
New member here, enjoyed reading the posts and the far more relaxed atmosphere here.  Just to introduce myself I've been a huge DS / MK fan since '91 when I was 15.  I've been to all his tours since On Every Street and a couple of gems like the montserrat concert and the tribute to Lonnie Donnegan where he aired Donnegans Gone with Jo Brown for the first time.  I even went to one of Guy Fletchers Blues gigs and managed to speak to Danny Cummings.  I've never been a member at the official news site forum, I am at the official MK site but only for getting gig tickets through them.  I have been reading posts over the years so recognise all the names here.  Many times a question has been asked or I have read something worth sharing but my incredible laziness has always stopped me from registering and posting.  Plus I think I'd enjoy it too much and find it a bit addictive as it's very rare to find people who share my enthusiasm for MK especially among my peers all in the late 20's early 30's who can not understand my lifelong enjoyment of MK's music.
Anyway the reason I have posted is I would like to ask anybody who is going to the Hurlingham gig if they wouldn't mind letting me know when they get there tickets.  The reason I ask is I am going with my wife but when I received my automated confirmation email from the MK site they said they would be sending the tickets to my old address despite me updating my details on the site when I purchased the tickets.  I emailed them and explained and they assured me my tickets would go to my new address.  I would like to say I trust them but with the problems with the KTGC presales I worry they wont hence my request.  I would be very grateful if somebody could.  I look forward to contributing further to this great forum.
Many Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,
welcome to the best MK/DS forum in the world  - well we think so anyway ::) everyone here can echo your comments about your peers not "getting the Knopfler thing".

As I'm not from the UK I'll be collecting my ticket at the door so I would imagine that if you told them that you would collect it that way rather than posting it you might have a safer result. Its strange though that the guys in the UK are having them posted & anyone from outside collects them at the door - when all the tickets bought on mk.com are coming from Canada?????
Maybe its because I'm getting older but I dont tend to worry about getting tickets etc before an event because with modern technology they nearly know what MK had for breakfast not to mind tracking a ticket ;D Theres a good few from here going so dont worry we'll sneak you in someway :o

You can nearly guarantee that by the time that I'll finish posting you'll have a few more replies as well.Keep posting & keep knopflering we're not a bad bunch really ::) ::) ;)
If it aint broke dont fix it!

Hey, I didn't write that. :P Pottel put that in the news on top. I only change the news if there is a technical problem.

Welcome, Andy.

Cheers everyone for the warm welcome.  I know I'll enjoy it here.  I have some seriously random and pointless items stored in my head from over the years which I am sure I will add to appropriate posts as and when.
